In that sense, the X1 should work just fine as a traditional reporter camera......... but alas the traditional news reporter days are long gone :p back in the old days when smoking was fashionable and being a homosexual wasn't

 

Maybe they mean it's the camera the reporter carries while his photographer is lugging around the real stuff....

yea I reckon digital would have been popular in "56

 

 

........... most cameras find it pretty hard to write a report, even the new fancy digital ones .................. but you could download this into your X1 firmware jockstrap

As a journo myself I can report that -- especially if you are freelancing -- the need to supply both pics and words is almost expected these days. As an editor, I always ask if images are available. Hence, a renaissance for the compact, Barnack-style "reporter" camera. Also, image quality is decisive.

You make some very valid points, backed by experience and authority. Already my X1 is contributing to my work output and is proving a superb compact asset.
