Dan States Posted March 31, 2010 Share #21 Posted March 31, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) In that sense, the X1 should work just fine as a traditional reporter camera......... but alas the traditional news reporter days are long gone back in the old days when smoking was fashionable and being a homosexual wasn't Maybe they mean it's the camera the reporter carries while his photographer is lugging around the real stuff.... NZDavid Posted March 31, 2010 Share #24 Posted March 31, 2010 As a journo myself I can report that -- especially if you are freelancing -- the need to supply both pics and words is almost expected these days. As an editor, I always ask if images are available. Hence, a renaissance for the compact, Barnack-style "reporter" camera. Also, image quality is decisive. You make some very valid points, backed by experience and authority. Already my X1 is contributing to my work output and is proving a superb compact asset. Ecaton Posted March 31, 2010 Share #26 Posted March 31, 2010 A focus ring on the lens would have made the camera infinitely more usable for many people. It beats the stupid little dial we use right now. Ricoh GXR A12.
jsrockit Posted March 31, 2010 Share #27 Posted March 31, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ricoh GXR A12. But with the Ricoh, there are so many other things missing ... Too Japanese / new school style for me that Ricoh.
