tobey bilek Posted March 31, 2010 Share #21 Posted March 31, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I would trade the lens for a black one so they match. Or more likely just leave the filter off. Change the lens over grass or just sit down and work over the camera bag. tategoi Posted March 31, 2010 Author Share #22 Posted March 31, 2010 LOL, the answers are just amazing. As amazing as holding an M9 I have been out shooting with the black filter, but I can't help noticing others kept staring at the black filter. And that's the reason why I want a silver filter! Thanks Jaap, your answer makes a lot of sense.
MikeMyers Posted March 31, 2010 Share #23 Posted March 31, 2010 I have been out shooting with the black filter, but I can't help noticing others kept staring at the black filter. And that's the reason why I want a silver filter! You're from SG - Singapore? If so, there are several huge camera shops in downtown Singapore my friend took me to, and I had the feeling that almost anything Leica could be found there. Maybe they'll have a used one you can buy? Or, I should be going through Singapore in about 8 weeks, and if you ordered one from B&H, you could meet me at the airport and pick it up. I don't understand why you should care one way or the other though. If people stare at your camera, I highly doubt it's the filter that caught their attention. As for me, given a choice between a black or a silver "anything" to mount on the end of my lens, I'd vote for black, thinking it might prevent annoying reflections. As to other people, they stare at my camera (M8.2) all the time, mostly trying to figure out what it is. I've got black lenses and silver lenses, and I wouldn't hesitate to use either on a black body. In the meantime, a lens hood would both improve your photos and cover up the filter - maybe that's a temporary solution for you.

tategoi Posted March 31, 2010 Author Share #25 Posted March 31, 2010 Mike, I have checked every Leica dealer, big and small, in town or outskirts, none carry the silver filter. You may be right, they have everything Leica, except silver filters, 50 1.4, 50 0.95, and M9. Don't take too seriously on my words that I'm concerned about others staring at my black filter, this is just a reply in jest to the many hilarious and stupid replies I got here, I merely join in the fun Thanks for your offer to bring it to me in Singapore. B&H, Adorama and Amazon all have also run out of stock.
wilfredo Posted April 4, 2010 Share #26 Posted April 4, 2010 I believe I had one of those but sold it since it didn't match the black lens it came with (bought used on E-bay) . Try E-bay, eventually something will turn up.
wilfredo Posted April 4, 2010 Share #27 Posted April 4, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Here's one from E-bay Leica 46mm UVa Chrome Filter - eBay (item 120544845373 end time Apr-16-10 18:00:02 PDT) You should also check out Pop Flash http://www.popflash.com/ They are very reputable. I purchased a Chrome Zeiss 18mm lens for my M8 from them and got a Chrome Leica filter to go with it. The funny thing abut the Zeiss lens is that the lens hood is black. It still looks pretty cool. jsrockit Posted April 6, 2010 Share #29 Posted April 6, 2010 I'm all for the aesthetics of cameras, and I believe a beautiful camera will make you want to use it more, but come on... just slap that filter on and get to work. I have black lenses with silver filters on silver cameras. People hate that, but I don't care.
Craftsman Posted April 8, 2010 Share #30 Posted April 8, 2010 I just sold a mint 46mm Chrome UV filter on ebay. In fact I sold every Leica item that I owned.
