I love my M8 Posted March 26, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 26, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have just ordered via the Leica website my two free UV/IR filters. Does anyone have any recent experience as to how long I may have to wait for these? I seem to remember reading in the dim and distant past on this site that they could take 4 to 6 weeks? Thanks. Islandmike Posted March 26, 2010 Share #2 Posted March 26, 2010 If I recall correctly, mine took between one and two weeks to arrive - in November 2009. Probably nearer the one week than two as I remember being pleasantly surprised, especially as the packet had to travel for Germany to Scotland. Hope that helps Mike

I spoke with the dealer who sold it to me and with Leica - NJ, and they said that I was not eligible for the free filters. Oh well... thinkfloyd Posted March 27, 2010 Share #12 Posted March 27, 2010 How would you know if you are not eligible for the free filters? I got my M8 second hand, and just for the sake of it, I tried registering and was able to. I ordered two filters and I was sent an email saying that it will be sent. Does this mean the first owner never registered the camera?
tedwin74 Posted March 27, 2010 Share #13 Posted March 27, 2010 I purchased a used M8, registered it online, ordered the free filters, was then asked to email copy of warranty card, it was in box so I did. 7 days later Fedex package arrived with filters. From Germany to New Zealand. I also ordered the free copy of LFI as the previous owner had not used that offer. That arrived the other day. Great service really. Redridge Posted March 28, 2010 Share #14 Posted March 28, 2010 Ok.... I registered my used M8.2, got the confirmed email they are shipping the 2 filters. Sweet! I take it, as long as the camera was never registered and are still within warranty period, you are eligible.
thinkfloyd Posted March 28, 2010 Share #15 Posted March 28, 2010 I got the confirmed email as well, but my camera isn't under warranty, that's for sure... unless they gave me one since I had it serviced in Hong Kong to repair the light meter around November (which I doubt since it cost me just $100). Still, I hope the filters arrive soon
mmanda Posted March 28, 2010 Share #16 Posted March 28, 2010 I attempted to register my used M8 and wasn't able to do so as it had already been registered by its previous user. I've sent Leica an email to see if its possible for me to partake in the owners area. Be nice to just have access.. neverlone getting filters! Redridge Posted March 30, 2010 Share #18 Posted March 30, 2010 I got this email today..... luckily I still had the 2 bar code labels they requested and emailed a pic to them. "Thank you for registering your camera. For shipping the two filters for free we need to have a copy of your cameras warranty card (the page with the two bar code labels on). Please send it by mail, fax or e-mail. I am very grateful for your help."
blimey Posted March 30, 2010 Share #19 Posted March 30, 2010 I was able to register my m8 but under benefits, it has nothing but my DLUX4 extended warranty certificate. im going to email them the warranty card and the bar codes mentioned earlier. i might as well try to get a 39mm filter since i bought an incorrect one. if not, b&h and adorama but heck all 39mm UV/IR filters are in back order.
