Ivan Muller Posted August 8, 2012 Share #461 Posted August 8, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) [ So, I will start by proclaiming for all to hear: I LOVE MY LEICA X1 I. Nooooo, I love my wife my children and my dog...a camera is just a camera, something to use, I love what it produces, that is who I am, a photographer....thus I love what I am/do/create, ( a photographer/photograph/images )...but having said that over here at the LF, I have noticed that most people are deeply in love with their cameras, maybe they love their cameras/toys/male jewelery more than they love photography...sad but true...why else would a post here on the latest leather camera case from some Italian manufacturer warrant thousands of views and reply's but a good photograph a mere fraction....and then there is such a brouhaha made when a new model comes out with a new paint job (but the innards are still the same) or a missing logo etc etc...must be because most leica owners love their cameras more than ........photography?? Have you noticed how, mostly, leica (M) photographers always mention which camera and lens combination they use...and always abbreviated, almost like a secret code or handshake only known by the 'inner circle' or those that are special enough to 'get it'? what does lux, sum cron pre asph mean??? Imagine a Lucian Freud painting with a subtitle mentioning the brand of paintbrush and paint..... On the other hand my X1 has served me well but I wouldn't hesitate a fraction of a millisecond when the time comes to 'retire' it...

jim sink Posted September 8, 2012 Share #462 Posted September 8, 2012 My X1 loves me because it gives me the best B&W images of any Leica camera I've owned and I have owned the following: M9,M8, X2, Dlux4,Dlux5. I always go back to my X1 for the most beautiful tone straight out of the camera. Thats why I know it loves me.
BruPri Posted September 8, 2012 Share #463 Posted September 8, 2012 I love my X1 and my X-Pro1 and RX100 are not happy about it. Those capture technically great images, the Leica captures feeling.

BruPri Posted March 19, 2014 Share #469 Posted March 19, 2014 Been a while since I've been here. Had an M9, RX1, RX100, and an X2. I'm back because I recently sold all my gear and acquired a Sony RX10. GREAT piece of kit. While I was there, I quickly spied a pristine silver/gray X1 (my favorite X series camera and in the color I always wanted) Picked it up in a heartbeat. It is and always will be a great camera. If I can't take a good picture with that, a good picture can't be taken.
leicaphilia Posted May 10, 2014 Share #470 Posted May 10, 2014 Apparently I'm somewhat late to the party. Sold a Fuji x100 which I just never could get along with and bought a nice used X1. I love it. To the extent that a digital camera can replicate the Leica film camera experience, the X1 with a 35mm finder does.
dave.gt Posted May 10, 2014 Share #471 Posted May 10, 2014 Apparently I'm somewhat late to the party. Sold a Fuji x100 which I just never could get along with and bought a nice used X1. I love it. To the extent that a digital camera can replicate the Leica film camera experience, the X1 with a 35mm finder does. Yeah, I am still learning the capabilities of my X1. Love the images! I broke the tiny battery release latch so I reckon it is time to send it to the spa in New Jersey. Time for the X1 to have a little vacation and treat it to a new strap when it gets back... Maybe an Annie Barton. Or a different A&A strap. I thoroughly love this little camera!
stevesurf Posted May 10, 2014 Share #472 Posted May 10, 2014 I agree with all of you! The X1 is a wonderful compact and light Leica and I love it's ease of use. Awhile back I came across B&H's used site and they've got a number of nice X1 accessories; I have found they grade conservatively and there are Leica X1 batteries, grips, cases, so enjoy! stephen.w Posted May 19, 2014 Share #476 Posted May 19, 2014 Adore my X2!More than your X1, Andy? I recall you were one of the early adopters of that camera. I remember getting the call from Meister Camera in HH in the middle of February 2010 when my name came up on the waiting list. I have since upgraded to an X100s. Although it is a better camera in all technical aspects, I often miss the ease and simplicity of the X1.

owen27 Posted May 31, 2014 Share #478 Posted May 31, 2014 I saw specs somewhere that the X1 is much smaller in dimensions than X2? that would be a selling point to me for pocketable camera.
dave.gt Posted May 31, 2014 Share #479 Posted May 31, 2014 Not true , Owen. Same camera same dimensions. Go to Leica AG and see the specs for yourself. Where on earth did you read that?
owen27 Posted May 31, 2014 Share #480 Posted May 31, 2014 Haha. Googled comparison of the two and got snapsort.com comparison.. Smaller 124x60x32 mm vs 124x69x52 mm Around 50% smaller
