pauledell Posted March 15, 2010 Share #2 Posted March 15, 2010 David, A nice shot but the low key tones are too dark with no detail especially on the doggy. Paul
viramati Posted March 15, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted March 15, 2010 A little lighter
stuny Posted March 15, 2010 Share #4 Posted March 15, 2010 David - Beautiful. In a way I prefer the first one since it adds some mystery.

pauledell Posted March 15, 2010 Share #7 Posted March 15, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) David, I like your revised version more. Now detail can be seen in the lowest value tones without sacrificing anywhere else. Paul
samwells Posted March 16, 2010 Share #8 Posted March 16, 2010 David: Lovely shot with a strangely dreamlike quality...I prefer the first one which to me seems simpler and more dynamic... cheers: Sam

jaapv Posted March 16, 2010 Share #10 Posted March 16, 2010 Don't make the whole shot lighter, just dodge some essential areas, like the dog and the bark on the tree. the overall tonality of the first shot is far better, so it should be fine then.Unless you are on CS4, don't use the dodge tool, use the paint with light method. I totally agree. There is a sense of mystery in the first that gets lost in the revised version. I like your tight control of the scene. Very nice, enjoyable shot.
