jaques Posted February 24, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 24, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) It seems it is not possible to use external flashes with a visoflex and 90 degree prism attached as the prism blocks the flash shoe? There is actually a bit of clearance in there- and it would be quite possible to slip in a little flash cable fitting? It would look just like one of those plastic flash shoe covers that many cameras used to ship with- only with a wire coming out the back... Is there any such slimline device available anywhere? I doubt it. would there be a possible market for such a device? I know I want one... I guess if I wasn't so busy- I could butcher and old dead flash and make one...what an ugly thing it would be... but if someone out there handy with a solder and micro tools in general want to whip up one for me- I will buy it! I may be crazy but I hope to use my m9 to do critical product/art documentation photography with a visoflex and remote flashes... It may seem weird but I see it as using the M9 as a full frame digital back- or a small MF back! The user interface is certainly way ahead of the Hasselblad CVF back I have used. Its a shame there isn't a perspective control adaptor for the visoflex now I think of it... any one already rustled up a workaround solution?
Advertisement Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Hi jaques, Take a look here flash with visoflex & m9?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted February 24, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 24, 2010 Probably best to use an old Nikon cable as a donor.
UliWer Posted February 24, 2010 Share #3 Posted February 24, 2010 It's much easier to look for a vertical viewfinder: the right one on the second picture. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.de/index.php/Leica_Visoflex_II/III (sorry, forgot the link..) With it you can use the Nikon SC58 cable adapter without trying to cut it into pieces.
jaapv Posted February 24, 2010 Share #4 Posted February 24, 2010 I find the vertical viewer quite difficult to use, as left and right are switched.
UliWer Posted February 25, 2010 Share #5 Posted February 25, 2010 You ditched your VIDOM-training, didn't you?
jaques Posted February 26, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted February 26, 2010 Yeah- I also much prefer the 90 degree finder- and for table top photography with a tripod the vertical viewfinder is a bit of a pain. I don't need to use any SCA adaptors- as I will use a hand held flash meter- and large strobe flashes with soft boxes. Looks like I will have to make my own. jaques Posted February 26, 2010 Author Share #8 Posted February 26, 2010 Just as I had expected: someone has already done it... thanks for the link
jaapv Posted April 26, 2010 Share #9 Posted April 26, 2010 I guess you will still have to remove the hot shoe and plastic lip for it to fit under the Visoflex. But I think I'll give it a try.
