Fokus Posted February 23, 2010 Share #21 Posted February 23, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks for the link Ralf. Not knowing a word of German, I look at this link with Google Translator, which gives me just enough info in English to understand the basics. Here're my feedbacks: - X1 produces exceptional IQ, even when compared against some DSLRs. - Peter Luck is an excellent photographer. I'm not sure I can produce his results. - Most of Peter's shots were static objects or portraits, so it doesn't test the autofocus function. - After seeing the samples in the link you sent and the ones in the high-ISO thread, I'm now considering the X1. In trouble again. Ken Hy Ken, the autofocus really could be faster, but when I "tested" it in that department store I had the impression that it is not that slow as some people say, it depends on the photo you want to shoot, it´s finally a matter of taste, but in fact the X1 is not a sports-camera. For me the the IQ is finally the main point and -of course- the high ISO-capability which is a great help in many situations. For the AF-function please see Steve Huff´s video in the following link (then also look for his "unboxing video": just great!!!!): Leica X1 First Look video with Auto Focus Test | STEVE HUFF PHOTOS Greetings Ralf

Fokus Posted March 7, 2010 Share #23 Posted March 7, 2010 Hy Ken, here are some more new X1-shots, see at the end of the thread. They are not only by Peter Lück, also by others. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/forum-zur-leica-x1/115345-x1-schnappies-vom-einmal-ber-hren-11.html Greetings Ralf
eduardoho Posted March 7, 2010 Share #24 Posted March 7, 2010 I am equally satisfied with my X1, the X1 is a sweet cute babe albeit capable of serious photography. But one has to get used to the fact the electronic back buttons are feather touch sensitive and the 4way shortcuts are located where the right hand thumb rest. My X1 was shipped directly by Leica Camera USA from Allendale NJ with a follow up eMail from Mr. Roger M Horn, thanking me for praising their regional sales manager who had expedited my order from Optics Planet on March 3, 2010. The simplicity and the logical functionality of the controls are marvelous. I do have an issue with the downloading of the photos though, a cradle where one can connect USB/download and view the slide show on spectacularly clear HDMI 1080dpi would otherwise be better, i.e. doing all that and recharging simultaneously. The battery is more than adequate for shooting in a typical day, but not for doing download/viewing slide show. I don't believe right now there are any extra battery available from the US retailers yet.

Lukeit Posted March 8, 2010 Share #26 Posted March 8, 2010 .. meaningless dribble ... of course your posts instead are always distilled, precious and rare pearls of wisdom... I think you should spare the forum with your continuous meaningless and somehow offensive comments.

Spare me your (in your own words)..... "Just a stupid thought I would like to share with you and ask your opinion about" posting I think you should spare the forum with your continuous meaningless and somehow offensive comments.....I have just as much right to post meaningless stuff just as you have above and the person quoted posted the meaningless dribble........ easy don't read what I post .......... end of story cobber! pappde Posted March 8, 2010 Author Share #28 Posted March 8, 2010 .. meaningless dribble Well, at least the guy is stating his own experience with the camera. As far as I can tell you never even bothered to try the camera. BTW. Have you ever posted anything contributory on this forum?
Guest stnami Posted March 8, 2010 Share #29 Posted March 8, 2010 Have you ever posted anything contributory on this forum? Probably as much as you, like I say you don't like it don't read it and whine about it after, ............. nothing wrong with writing meaningless dribble is there as you know yourself

Hey pal, thanks for the explanation of your comment.. despite your merciful enlightenment we managed to get the point anyway... I agree anyone has the same right to post whatever, but I think that having this right and the way you exercise it makes the true difference: most often your replies are really for the sake of themselves... what's the point to cry to the world you think someone's post is "meaningless dribble" without adding a more "structured" contribution? What is your point and reason in wanting to do it? Are you afraid if you don't people might actually think you take the point? Are you so sensitive to someone else's opinion? Or simply you are only craving to show us your prowess in Aussi slang?
Guest stnami Posted March 8, 2010 Share #31 Posted March 8, 2010 Hey as I said don't read and complain. But now that you have that off your chest get in with your deep and meaningful contribution:) ........ if you want to know my contribution read all I emphasise all my post and the come back. As I stated nothing wrong with posting meaningless dribble you just assume dribble is bad, that is a narrow way of thinking

stephen.w Posted March 8, 2010 Share #34 Posted March 8, 2010 Spare me your tirade of tears and how do you know if I am not getting the camera ...... maybe you better move on instead instead of wasting your time writing the dribble above?? dribble –noun6.a small trickling stream or a drop. 7.a small quantity of anything: a dribble of revenue. 8.Sports. an act or instance of dribbling a ball or puck. 9.Scot. a drizzle; a light rain. I think perhaps you meant 'drivel'. Didn't your mum ever teach you to play nicely with the other children?

Fokus Posted March 8, 2010 Share #36 Posted March 8, 2010 .. meaningless dribble Come on, stnami, let´s all cool down. Concerning my lousy abilities to play football/ soccer, you may be right . Concerning this camera , please try yourself, the AF is really difficult to describe, but I personally think it is -for me- OK. For the AF-function and speed I already recommended in this thread the link to Steve Huff, who did many tests on the AF of the X1. eduardoho Posted March 8, 2010 Share #38 Posted March 8, 2010 I am amused, but no pun intended; but I see we have difficulties in comprehending intricate nuances of English language. I have observed that people from different countries write and interpret the English language differently. However, having said this, first and foremost I am interested in opinions about the X1, any opinions, good or bad, offensive or not, from anyone, from any part of this globe. Irrespective of what they are, they are all of value to me. If they are worthless gibberish, I just skip it over on to the next, if they exhibit a meritorius value then I will digest the substance of the comments as expressed . Of course some of you have greater photographic expertise than others, I can sense it very clearly by the way each commentaries are expressed and I take that into consideration as well. My take is such that this is an open forum, short of being obscene, obnoxious or rude, anyone can express their genuine thoughts in an unbiased manner whatsoever. This is my two cent contribution on this parody of expressions. Let's have fun.
