johnbuckley Posted February 15, 2010 Share #4 Â Posted February 15, 2010 That's great. Q3 net income of 4.8m Euros does not offset annual losses of 4.8 Euros -- which means before the M9 was released, Leica was not doing well. Here's hoping that they can continue to have profitable quarters and that Dr. K can take some money home, after his generous subsidies to us all. Jeff S Posted February 15, 2010 Author Share #6 Â Posted February 15, 2010 My thread was posted first...I thought about posting in customer forum, but decided M9 users would be specifically interested due to concerns about lack of shipments. andybarton Posted February 15, 2010 Share #7 Â Posted February 15, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have made the link direct to the Quarterly Report. As always, this involves more than just the M9.
Jeff S Posted February 15, 2010 Author Share #8 Â Posted February 15, 2010 I have made the link direct to the Quarterly Report. As always, this involves more than just the M9. Â I'm aware. My post also links to annual report for those interested beyond M9. Â Jeff
jaapv Posted February 15, 2010 Share #9 Â Posted February 15, 2010 Interesting: Â In the lens product line, the Company has marketed new products and has further new products in the preparation stage.
earleygallery Posted February 15, 2010 Share #10 Â Posted February 15, 2010 So it's only a rumour?
UliWer Posted February 15, 2010 Share #11 Â Posted February 15, 2010 Interesting: Â Really? Â You want to start another thread with Berg-Elmars, goggled 180mm Apo-Telyts, 28+75 Summiluxes?
jaapv Posted February 15, 2010 Share #12 Â Posted February 15, 2010 Interesting: Â In the lens product line, the Company has marketed new products and has further new products in the preparation stage. Â Posted this before; it disappeared.. Edit: No it did not. Confusing two threads in two forums...
jaapv Posted February 15, 2010 Share #13 Â Posted February 15, 2010 Not me, just quoting Leica.
diogenis Posted February 15, 2010 Share #14 Â Posted February 15, 2010 Not bad: they kept their employees, covered their losses, introduced 3 new products and all that under economic crisis. Wonder how CaNikon control their beasts...
M5-User Posted February 15, 2010 Share #15  Posted February 15, 2010 This is promising... Would the lenses in the pipe line be for M or S2 cameras....Or both... Yeah..S2 for sure... (Not my market though as a hobbyist)...  For the M line.... 28 Lux 24 Cron 50 Pancake Elmarit or Summarit 35 Pancake Elmarit or Summarit 28 Pancake Elmarit or Summarit  Not that I could afford them new, maybe used though, down the road.... But, a few lenses more in the under $1,400 range with moderate speed, like a few pancake lenses to choose from.
bill Posted February 15, 2010 Share #16 Â Posted February 15, 2010 Hark, is that the sound of words I hear being eaten...? Â I love this bit: Â "Leica Camera AG defies the effects of the state of the global economy by stringently adhering to its adopted course." Â In other words, Armchair CEOs - NO! andybarton Posted February 15, 2010 Share #17  Posted February 15, 2010  For the M line.... 50 Pancake Elmarit or Summarit 35 Pancake Elmarit or Summarit 28 Pancake Elmarit or Summarit   What would the advantage of pancake lenses be? There are already 50 and 35 Summarits, so why would Leica bother to make another version?  I can see a 28 Summilux at some time, though. It's now the missing link. jaapv Posted February 15, 2010 Share #18 Â Posted February 15, 2010 I think pancake-type lenses would not be exactly cheap. It must be an optical designer's nightmare to build them to Leica standards.
andybarton Posted February 15, 2010 Share #19 Â Posted February 15, 2010 And why would you want one? Summarits in the shorter lengths aren't exactly massive lenses.
Pangur Ban Posted February 15, 2010 Share #20 Â Posted February 15, 2010 Leica is getting to be no fun anymore: first they make great lenses and cameras, now they're making a profit at it - whatever next!?!
