All,

I am going to say goodbye to Leica. Enough of waiting for the M9. Life is short. I will dumping the rest of my Leica gears in the Bay soon.

Have been a nice few years with you guys. Sorry for being negative in the last 2 months.

Enjoy and take care,

Arthur

Sorry to hear that you are leaving. As a fellow Seattlite I am sad to see a Leica Shooter leave for other pastures out here in the NW....the M9 is a wonderful camera, and maybe you'll change your mind once it's more widely available?!? Hang on to a couple fav lenses, and find out, maybe?

Regardless, I hope that you are satisfied in all future endeavors.

This cannot possibly be the only reasons to dumb your Leica gears and Leica experience, or is it?

...agreed - the M9 may be a fine camera, but it is not the only Leica capable of producing excellent images. Besides the M9, is there more to your story, Arthur?

So- as I read it your position is: " If I cannot get it NOW, I don't want it"? That makes it rather doubtful that it was a highly motivated choice in the first place and I am convinced you are saving yourself a lot of grief by looking elsewhere. Wise decision and maybe we'll see you back here some time. Feel free to drop in.

Dear Arthury:

Perhaps you should wait until Spring for such an important decision. All that rain and gloom in Seattle may burden you with SAD (seasonal affective disorder), an actual well-known psychiatric ailment (my wife is the doctor in the house). When the sun comes out in another month or two, you may perk up and then regret what you have done, plunging you still further into depression.

Best wishes.

If this Leica shortage is such a weight on your consciousness, you obviously have mental problems caused by things other than failure to obtain an M9 when you want one.

I love "Grand Farewell" speeches on forums. It happens on all of them.

What's funny is the mook thinks it's important to make a public announcement. Who cares?

Just stop posting, pack up your things, and get out.

May I ask whether anything is preventing you to shoot with another camera during the wait. I waited 2 months for mine, got times of frustration but overall it went fast and I devoted a lot of time to the M8. So, hang on a bit more, life is short indeed but whats 2 months in comparaison of a lifetime and the pleasure you will get from using the M9 ?

Wow, this turned nasty real fast. I think that some forget that here at the LUF we do not go quietly into the night. We leave amongst great fanfare and ticker tape and announce our departure and in many cases we leave many times. These events are never meant to go unnoticed as we proclaim our final frustrations and disgust and emotions with our loved camera. Many departees in their parting screed make one last flaunt in front of the forum with their new Nikon or Canon mistress.

Arthury, did not even do that, he simple expressed his frustration and stated humbly that, "Have been a nice few years with you guys. Sorry for being negative in the last 2 months."

Arthury, good bye and I hope you return to Leica, I will certainly welcome you here. Maybe, I'll see you at Glazers drooling over the counter with Mark.

p.s. I was wondering what part of Elliot Bay you were dumping your gear, that is... Seattle joke... keep clam.

Rick

Whoa.... before people dump on Arthury, think about it objectively. I was lucky enough to get an M9 in late September. It's now February. If you've been waiting for an M9 since September, it is not evidence of being spoiled to by now be throwing in the towel. I'm a Leica apologist through and through, but the wait for an M9 for those who ordered cameras on September 9th is serious and a real problem. I'm not critical of someone for being frustrated.

Funny! Woke up to a beautiful sunrise this morning. The cherry tree out front is blooming. It's your side of the country that's worrying!
