krabat Posted February 11, 2010 Share #22 Posted February 11, 2010 Meanwhile, no one has even come close to replicating the Digilux 2.JT John, I think, THAT is actually the crucial point. A Digilux 2-like camera simply does not exist. What if somebody would adapt the R 28-90 lens to an M9 body??? :D

Ruhayat Posted March 4, 2010 Share #25 Posted March 4, 2010 Considering the size of my Panasonic G1 with 28-90mm (effective focal length) kit lens compared side by side with my Digilux 2 with similar zoom range, I can't see why it's not possible to now build a D4 with a large format sensor at about the same size of the D2. And that's adjusting for a max aperture of f2... If you're going for "just" f2.8 like the X1, the resulting lens probably wouldn't get much bigger than that of the G1's, which has a max aperture of f3.5. stuny Posted March 4, 2010 Share #26 Posted March 4, 2010 Jakob - I would love for that solution to work, but it would not meet my needs since the rangefinder will not work with lenses attached via that mount. This means users have to do zone focusing, or select a hyperfocal setting, or just guess at distance to subject. If there was an appropriate, but non-existent EVIL mounted on the hotshoe it would work, but that would increase the size and weight of the unit, getting us into the realm of DSLRs. I fully agree, it's not a workable solution. In the dream scenario the non-exisiting EVIL should plug into the nonexisting image feed from the sensor and should include the non-existing focus aid (electronic split screen, perhaps?)
