jaapv Posted February 19, 2010 Share #121 Posted February 19, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've had a delightful correspndence vit bee berman and she wanted to know if the Leica factory in Solms is open for visitors. Does anybody know how to do it if you want to visit? Apparently a M9 is high on her wish-list too! Åmund Just mail the factory and make an appointment. Leica loves visitors. noah_addis Posted February 19, 2010 Share #123 Posted February 19, 2010 You can't beat that price! They're simple and perhaps not 'sexy' but they work. I've used 'em for years on everything from an M6 to a large DSLR with 70-200/2.8 with no problems.
epand56 Posted February 19, 2010 Share #124 Posted February 19, 2010 Well... I still see my M8 like a simple tool, not a top model or a pair of tall, high heeled black boots. This is too much fetish to me...
kivis Posted April 14, 2010 Share #125 Posted April 14, 2010 Indeed, there is a take-off series of bags called "Black Label" and sold by Photo Village (and perhaps others). I ordered an Artisan & Artist Image Smith bag a couple months ago. The A&A GCAM 7200 (very similar to the Oskar Day Bag) is the best "light carry" camera bag I have ever used. Being so smitten, I decided to spring for the larger Image Smith. The folks at Photo Village asked if I wanted the "updated Black Label bag." I assumed at the time it was an A&A product and said sure. Alas, it's not made by Artisan and Artist. As Thorsten points out, it's a copycat product. It's a pretty decent bag, but at the rarified price levels of A&A, I wanted the real thing. I didn't feel the foam dividers in the Black Label bag were anything like the quality of A&A bags. Photo Village was very good at exchanging my bag. But people should be warned - there is an unfortunate inference that Black Label bags are made by A&A. They aren't. Will at Photovillage informed me the the Black Label has waterproof zippers. So I went with that. I have the A&A Evans Walker but it is too small. Shade Posted April 15, 2010 Share #126 Posted April 15, 2010 This thread just reminded me that I need to buy that thumbs up! By the way, anyone tried the magnification eye piece 1.25x that's available from the same site as thumbsup? The leica 1.4x magnifier is hard to come by here.. Yes, It is very well made, as is all their items. You can also crew a diopler into the magnifier, although taking the diopter off, screwing on the magnifier and screwing it back on can be a pain. I opted for the smaller rubber eyepiece- the rubber eyepiece makes it very easy to screw in. My only complaint, which I passed on, is that it doesn't have a case of any kind.
