hector_jorge Posted January 28, 2010 Share #1 Posted January 28, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I will like to buy a 28mm lens for my M cameras (M3 and M6TTL). The price of the Elmarit is more or less half of the Summy price. Is the difference between the two so hight? I have an Elmarit 28 in my R Leica, and I think that it is a rather good lens. What do you think? Many thanks in advance.
Advertisement Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Hi hector_jorge, Take a look here Elmarit or Summicron 28?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lct Posted January 28, 2010 Share #2 Posted January 28, 2010 I own them 3 and like them all. The Elmarit-M asph is sharper than the last Elmarit-R, very contrasty, with a slightly harsher bokeh. The Summicron-M is sharp as well, perhaps a bit less contrasty, with a slightly smoother bokeh. I prefer the Summicron-M personally but i shoot often at f/2. If you don't, the Elmarit-asph is a great little lens anyway.

farnz Posted January 28, 2010 Share #4 Posted January 28, 2010 Hector, I have the 28/2.8 Elmarit-R and the 28/2 Summicron-M asph and I had the 28/2.8 Elmarit-M asph for 2 years. They're all very good lenses but I prefer the Summicron for its superbly graduated micro-contrast, sharpness wide open and smooth bokeh. Pete. hector_jorge Posted January 29, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted January 29, 2010 Many thanks Pete and Ruben for your advise. I will try to save for the Summy, but if I can`t, I will buy the Elmarit, because I prefer Leica glass, good quality and good investment too.
