rainer_p Posted July 7, 2006 Share #2 Posted July 7, 2006 ....good black and white converssion. I would have darkend the area around the man a little. Nice photo though regards
graham_mitchell Posted July 7, 2006 Share #3 Posted July 7, 2006 Lots of character, texture and a good composition. I much prefer this one to 'ablution'
jmr Posted July 7, 2006 Share #4 Posted July 7, 2006 Richard, I like the way the wall to the right holds my interest in the body of the picture, despite the man's gaze leading it out. Nicely done. Good tones too.
stuny Posted July 7, 2006 Share #5 Posted July 7, 2006 Richard - Fabulous capture, composition, tones and texture. Stuart
tomparis Posted July 7, 2006 Share #6 Posted July 7, 2006 Richard, I like the picture, the composition, the moment you captured. But the scan/print is much too light on the right side (imho). The wall and the money need more density; And the man's face could need a little more light. Here's a quick an dirty try, just to illustrate what I mean (hope you don't mind my playing with your work... your image deserves a better print!):
Guest imported_stefan_r Posted July 7, 2006 Share #7 Posted July 7, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Tom, your version looks a little sponchy... look at his trousers .. a little crop on the left concentrates more on him.. regards
semrich Posted July 7, 2006 Author Share #8 Posted July 7, 2006 Thanks to all for the comments - I would be interested in what the various processes and software that was used for the tone development. I am currently getting my software together for processing raw images from a D-Lux2 and a R-D1, and eventually an M8. I will have CS2 in a couple of weeks and for now I am only working with Lightroom Beta 3 on an intel iMac. I have EpsonRaw and find it works better than ACR for B&W but lacks functionality and doesn't seem to integrate with Lightroom. I am open to suggestions and comments. uulrich Posted July 7, 2006 Share #9 Posted July 7, 2006 Richard; I think you already got good advice. OT: I wonder how these people get some money out of this kind of business? Isn't there a fixed rate for old and new turkish lira? Just for the heck of it.... Thanks.
rainer_p Posted July 7, 2006 Share #10 Posted July 7, 2006 ....Stefans version is getting the closesed to my likings (would you wonder) ? even that it's impossible to correct the heavy hand semrich had on the burning and dodging (trousers and edge of the jacket). this photo has potential though
