AlanJW Posted January 26, 2010 Share #21 Posted January 26, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm sure you can call Stefan Daniel and ask... I don't know for how long they warranty, but many months (but less than a year) after purchase of my M8 the battery would no longer take a charge -- could only get it to two bars on the M8 lcd. I had an extra battery that worked fine, so we knew it was not the camera or the charger. I called Leica NJ and they sent out a new battery --- and did not even ask for the old one in return. Needless to say, I was pleased with such good service.

Ed_K Posted January 26, 2010 Share #22 Posted January 26, 2010 But i think to be on the safe side, for those getting third party battery, please make sure they charge and discharge properly before your big trip, it will be too late if Murphy's law knock your door in the middle of your shooting session :-(
vish Posted January 28, 2010 Share #23 Posted January 28, 2010 I found some M9 batteries at the wonderful Camera West in Walnut Creek, and very happy. TP batteries are false economy, but I've had to give in a couple of times when I've had no choice.
Guest BigSplash Posted January 28, 2010 Share #24 Posted January 28, 2010 My dealer in UK says that he has been trying without success to get batteries for M8/M9......and he seems pretty upset. Reading other reports here it suggests that in the NJ area USA they are currently difficult to find OEM ones. I sure hope Leica resolve asap as I want to buy an original one that I know to be genuine given the comments made here.

I just spoke to my dealer, H A Baker in Lewes, UK to chase up a red dot (one has fallen off one of my lenses). I asked him if he had any batteries in stock and the answer was "no and they are taking ages to come through when I have ordered them." I wonder if this is the component that is holding up M9 production due to a change in supplier. Wilson
fotmaesron Posted January 28, 2010 Share #27 Posted January 28, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I don't understand when you an expensive camera, you put crap batteries in it, you don't know what a battery can do your camera. A saying go's: when its unbelievable cheap, it's mostly so, When you buy a battery from a known make like GP, Varta, Energizer ex..;.;those could be even better than the oem , but they won't be much cheaper
