Samples of the 50mm Summicron at 2.0 with M9 please?

There is no ASPH 50mm Summicron (f/2) so samples will not be coming.

There are 28, 35, 75 and 90mm Summicron (f/2) ASPH lenses but the 50 Cron was never produced in a ASPH version.

You are right, appologize for being not so 100% correct, typed too quick and now it is too late o change the title.

But I assume that 100% of the folks here are smart enough to figure that out...:D

This is my most used lens. I know that the summilux is may be better and in the future, I would like to buy one. But until now I enjoy the cron very much. I have many pictures with the M8 at f2 but with the M9 I can show you just a few:

Beautiful pictures! I love them! You have a flair.

Thanks. I'm from Mallorca.

From my point of view, this lens for its price is incredible. Now with the M9 becomes much more versatile. With this lens and the M9 set in 400 iso I have the feeling of working in similar shooting conditions that one of my favourite photographers did.

Most people here do know that but I was unsure if you did. Just trying to point out what you might not know for your future reference.

I'll be posting a load of them soon on my Leica M9 article (a new page 8 coming in few days) but the old Summicron f/2.0 is sitting on the M9 for 90% of the shots for the last three weeks, and always fully open at f/2 for reasons of DOF and bokeh.

Now, what I find interesting (and confusing) is the different editions of the 50mm Summicron-M f/2 lenses that exist. As a brand-new ASPH has not come around, which one is the best then? And I think no-one can really say because some say the very old Version (I) is the one that has the best bokeh, and even those newer 50mm Summicron-M f/2.0 lenses that are said by Leica Camera to be the exact same inside (the outer changed), many users say have a different look.

50mm lenses are almost always good as it's an easy design to make, and Leica have been really good at this in both the R and M series of 50mm. So if one - as I definitely do - like the 50mm format above 35mm or 28mm (which are also considered standard lenses), it's a matter of studying the available 50mm editions and choose the right edition.

When decided on that, then comes the next question: The non-ASPH or the ASPH 50mm Summilux-M ... or both?

In any case, I'll have a new page with lots of 50mm shots from the M9 up in few days at leica.overgaard.dk - Thorsten Overgaard's Leica Pages - Leica M9 Digital Rangefinder Camera

Till then, anyone who can contribute with knowledge on the 50mm Summicron-M range, and samples perhaps, would be very welcome.

Its funny but I have tried out every Leica 50 there is and I just purchased a 50 Summicron brand new for a GREAT price. After using it for a few days I fell in love with it and actually prefer it to the 50 Lux ASPH. It really is a great lens on the M9. I do not have anything worth posting just yet but will soon as I will be out and about this weekend with it.

Thorsten, can't wait to see your report with the 50!

Steve
