Wonderful, Andy. Glad you broke the rule of thirds with the horizon. Especially like the exposure--with detail from the whites of the lighthouse to the blacks of the dark area on the lower left. Must have been perfect lighting that day. This would make a fine large print.

 

And if you don't mind, I'll add the word "jiggerypokery" to my vocabulary.

It's directly opposite Hoylake, on the Wirral, (where The Open Golf was held this year) at the estuary of the River Dee. The river flows through Chester and is the border between England and Wales. I can see the lighthouse from the end of my road, but it takes a good half an hour to get there, as I have to drive up to the first bridge, then all the way down the other river bank.

 

I live somewhere under the big red cloud... :)
