X2 Wish List

Give me a traditional manual focus ONLY lens and make it an f2.0. With those changes, I'd buy the X2 without hesitation.

I agree...though I already like the X1. However, we may need some type of device to ensure proper focus... rangefinder would be nice. ;)

Much as I don't/can't see the point in an M10 having an autofocus, exactly the same I don't see a point in a compact camera and particular the X2 having manual focus/lens...

That said, the X2 and any camera at this price range and quality, needs to be fast and intuitive.

Give me a lens with the Digilux 2 handling and parameters, the X1 sensor and the Pana G1 EVF, and I'd buy the resulting camera without hesitation.:)

Brent,

Your desires are understandable but from a manufacturing and marketing point of view, Leica will sell many more of the current X1 than the X2 your have described. Plus, adding even a crude rangefinder to the X2 would drive the already-stratospheric price even higher. (Now if you can live with manual scale focuing only -- no rangefinder! -- that's a different animal entirely.)

Leica will quickly sell all the X1s they can push out the door.

maybe some of the old-timers can answer this..when the M3 was about to be released did potential buyers send letters to each other asking what they wanted to see in the M2?

Nope.

But isn't it intreresting that Leica quickly understood the enduring appeal that the M2 would have?

(I owned, loved and used two M3 double-stoke bodies in my early salad days 40 years ago.)
