Advertisement Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Hi cesarem9, Take a look here Leica M8 Black or Silver. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Nicoleica Posted January 8, 2010 Share #22 Posted January 8, 2010 These color opinion threads are quite entertaining and occur regularly on the Rennlist site as posters pose the same question about their Porsches. If you're unsure, why not spend a bit more and go with the Safari green or White editions? Can I get a Lime Yellow M8 to match my car? (It's either that, or get a Silver car to match my M8.) !Nomad64 Posted January 8, 2010 Share #23 Posted January 8, 2010 Can I get a Lime Yellow M8 to match my car? (It's either that, or get a Silver car to match my M8.) A Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost should match either your M8 and your future M9 :-) Cheers, Bruno

Jeff S Posted January 9, 2010 Share #28 Posted January 9, 2010 and silver lenses are toooo heavy The more recent versions, e.g., 50 lux asph, 28 cron asph, etc., are listed on the Leica site at the same weight. Jeff
andym911 Posted January 9, 2010 Share #29 Posted January 9, 2010 Jeff can't afford the recent versions, but when I compare the 35 cron 90 Cron 50 elmar with their black counterparts there is a weight difference.....maybe in my mind ? best andy
Jeff S Posted January 9, 2010 Share #30 Posted January 9, 2010 Jeff can't afford the recent versions, but when I compare the 35 cron 90 Cron 50 elmar with their black counterparts there is a weight difference.....maybe in my mind ? best andy Not your imagination on the 35 cron...older design, different weights for silver and black. Don't know about others (current 90 cron is only black, I think, and don't know of a recent 50 elmar), so you must be referring to older lenses, which would likely have a real weight difference. The modern lenses are constructed differently. I'm sure someone will "weigh" in on the technical aspects. FWIW, the M8 silver and black bodies are also listed at the same weight...black chrome or silver chrome over brass. Not sure about the black paint M8.2. john_newell Posted January 11, 2010 Share #31 Posted January 11, 2010 Not sure about current production, but the recent (as in a couple of years ago) production of silver lenses used some brass components and the lenses were in fact heavier than their black, all-aluminum counterparts. This included lenses such as the 90mm AA, the pre-ASPH 50mm Lux and both 35mm ASPHs.

brianv Posted January 12, 2010 Share #38 Posted January 12, 2010 Does the Black Paint on the Leica reflect in Infrared? Okay- I did not care, and am getting the Chrome M8. I have a Black Nikon SP. Life is complete, do not care after that one. Almost Forgot: Chrome Nikkor on the Black SP and Black Nikkor on the Chrome SP and chrome Nikkor on the other chrome SP. CatWorthy Posted January 13, 2010 Share #40 Posted January 13, 2010 I'm a Leica newbie and don't own an M camera yet, just a d-lux4 for now. I doing researches and hoping to pull the trigger on an 8.2 with 24 Elmarit in the next few months. Cosmetics aside, how do you feel taking street photos with a chrome vs a black camera? I want to fly low and be as un-noticeable as I could be. What about when you travel to more challenging destinations? Which color attract less unwanted attention? I'm eyeing a chrome but not sure how to tape over the red dot and the M8 lettering and still have a decent looking camera. Thanks.
