Lucky accident with D-Lux 4

Many of the reviews of the D-Lux 4 mention that's too easy to accidentally move the "wheel" that selects between auto, aperture, shutter, scene, etc.

Yesterday, my wife and I went for a tour of a lighthouse in Big Sur, California. I carried the Digilux 2 and she the D-Lux 4. She accidentally moved the wheel to "SCN" mode which was set to "pin-hole" and took a number of shots with that. As it turns out, those shots were the real keepers - they had a beautiful timeless/vintage quality to them and captured the light/mood perfectly.

Below is an example.

Some accidents work in your favor :D.

It sure is a little marvel of a camera as I have been finding out since I purchased my D-Lux 4 back in September. It is a Marvel especially in low light.

Very nice shot clinchico!

I do have a few issues with the LCD in sunlight, but it works great at night. You inspired me to go out and shoot a few in the next few evenings.

Actually the two modes I most use on my D-Lux 4 are the Dynamin B&W and the Pinhole. Sometimes the pinhole is just perfect for adding something intriguing.

I also like dynamic BW but I had thought that the pinhole mode was a gimmick. I know better now.

Good shot. I just bought an excellent book on the DLux 4 by Alenxander White. The BW version is only $20 and I have been reading it cover to cover. it is that good and full of info. It really tells you about the camera way beyond the manual.
