Westerwald-Leica Posted December 23, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 23, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I had been waiting for my black M9 for 2 months when my dealer called this morning telling me, he had a grey M9 waiting for me. So I rushed to the store figuring I wouldn't care much about the color. I was wrong. I didn't like the grey, didn't like the leather and so I sighed, put it back in the box and decided to wait a little longer. Hope it won't be too long. jklotz Posted December 23, 2009 Share #3 Posted December 23, 2009 If only we could have traded.... I wanted grey, but they emailed and said they'd have a black one next week for me, or I could wait another 1-3 months for a grey. I flipped a coin, grey won. I took the black one anyway
leica_m4p Posted December 23, 2009 Share #4 Posted December 23, 2009 I hope I don't upset anyone by saying this, but when I go to a hardware shop and buy a hammer, I don't much care what colour it is, so long as it does the job. I have to admit to preferring silver Ms, but it's the photographs they help me create that I care about so black, silver wouldn't matter much to me. But if your hammer cost as much as a good used car, you might care a little more!
leica_m4p Posted December 23, 2009 Share #6 Posted December 23, 2009 But if your hammer cost as much as a good used car, you might care a little more! perhaps if the colour choices were red, blue, black, silver, yellow, but not when the choice is between two inoffensive colours

adan Posted December 23, 2009 Share #8 Posted December 23, 2009 Maybe the Forum should set up an M9 exchange thread, where one person who got a camera - but the wrong color, can swap with another person who also got a camera - of the "other" wrong color. Sort of like we did swapping IR filters a couple of years ago.
Bartie Posted December 23, 2009 Share #9 Posted December 23, 2009 The only colour for me is black. If you`re spending that kind of money on a camera you have to be happy in yourself with what it looks like. Andy
eleskin Posted December 23, 2009 Share #10 Posted December 23, 2009 GREY SHMAE!! GIVE ME CHROME!!! In all seriousness, the M9 would be incredibly beautiful in real chrome with the classic leather like I have on my M6. Hell, while we are at it, why not offer one that looks like the MP! Grey paint is something that is trying to be chrome but it is not!
marknorton Posted December 23, 2009 Share #11 Posted December 23, 2009 I think Leica are serious about discontinuing silver chrome - I heard the grip for the silver M8 is no longer made.

wilfredo Posted December 23, 2009 Share #13 Posted December 23, 2009 If you are paying that much for the camera, you have every right to be fully satisfied with the product. Good luck on the wait.
J_Thompson Posted December 23, 2009 Share #14 Posted December 23, 2009 My decision was to have one black and one grey I rather like the grey now ... Well, that's one way to solve a dilemma - satisfaction is completely guaranteed! Hope you're enjoying them, Chris.
thrice Posted December 24, 2009 Share #15 Posted December 24, 2009 I was set on chrome, then thought I would get black sooner so started looking at black, then actually changed my preference to the look of black body w/silver lenses... but told my dealer I would take any colour, and I ended up with black. ggits Posted December 24, 2009 Share #16 Posted December 24, 2009 For that kind of money - NO COMPROMISE ! But I must admit that if I was a pro, and needed the camera to support my business - I really would not care for color. Only functions and ability to work would be my primary decisions-factor, second - look nice / love factors ____________________ ggits Denmark
air Posted December 24, 2009 Share #17 Posted December 24, 2009 ... but told my dealer I would take any colour, and I ended up with black. same to me... For me it was quite impossible to say, which one I prefer (at the end it was black ) But to be honest - if it would exist - the black one without leather would be my choice (the way my M8 was)
