Don Morley Posted December 25, 2009 Share #21 Posted December 25, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) OK...first of all I realize this is a Leica forum, but I have to ask the question as I might be getting a M8.2. So here comes my maybe stupid question: Is there a lot of difference between images taken with Canon 1D mkIII, or new 7D and a M8.2..providing Canon was being used with L lenses 24-70 or 70-200 f/2.8?IF so, what is the difference? Please don't jump at me...I know these are 2 completely different cameras, that are used differently, but I need to understand the differences and advantages/disadvantages... Apologies if this offended you. Please let me know. Thanks, P I have used Leica's for more than 50 years as a Pro Photographer, and also used Canon's for well over 30 years now, currently with M8 and M8.2 plus two Canan full frame 5D's and two 400D's, and sorry but you really cannot compare them. The quallity of each and all is great, but the Leica's are so small and nice to use and the SLR Canon's FAR more versatile, so as much as I will always love Leica's the Canon's would win it hands down for me Luckilly I am retired now and can afford to continue indulging myself with both systems, but as said, if I still had to earn my living with a camera and could only afford the one system, then sorry to say it would have to be a Canon (or Nikon) - And either would of course also be far cheaper options. Advertisement Posted December 25, 2009 Posted December 25, 2009 Hi Don Morley, Take a look here M8.2 vs Canon 1Dmk3 or 7D?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Boxer 53 Posted December 1, 2010 Share #22 Posted December 1, 2010 I own an M9, 7D and 5DMKII. The M9 takes the best images in most situations I encounter but the 7D is really, really good. Forgeting about full frame for just a moment, the color rendition and auto white balance of the 7D is remarkable. I really like it -- more so than my 5DMKII but the M9 IQ remains the best I have personally encountered. I'm only a dangerous amateur so the smarter folks on this forum can correct me as needed. I am only speaking from my own personal experience.
jaapv Posted December 1, 2010 Share #23 Posted December 1, 2010 Try putting a 400mm lens on a RF camera and see how easy it is to use to shoot wildlife, or even a cat across the street. :confused:Ummm...M8, Noflexar 400...
