redbaron Posted January 30, 2010 Share #221 Posted January 30, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Maybe Leica builds cameras the way they want to build them. I'm quite sure their designers are well aware of all the available options, so maybe the features we see on current cameras are there for a reason. Just as the ones we don't see. The M9 may have reflected what options were available to them at the time they designed it. Their options have increased since then. Don't you think they are working on the next model or is the M9 as far as Leica will go with the M platform?
redbaron Posted January 30, 2010 Share #224 Posted January 30, 2010 Leica may actually see backwards compatibility as a good thing. And what's wrong about supplying those many a traditional M type camera?
LLT Posted January 30, 2010 Share #225 Posted January 30, 2010 An auto focus lens on an M camera is like a Ferrari with an automatic transmission. ha I love this comment. I second this! nothing more frustrating than that in fact! Love Ms the way they are, exemplified more so that I am a control freak and would not leave any focusing up to technology. However 10% of Ferrari's clientèle still demand a manual transmission, therefore the Italians will give in to this demand. No details on exactly what this manual transmission system will be however the six-speed version from 612 Scaglietti looks a good bet." lct Posted January 30, 2010 Share #227 Posted January 30, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) My bet would be that the "Leica R solution" will be an EVF camera that takes M lenses as well... Agree. But it becomes too difficult to focus fast teles with the wide magnification of digital Ms and i doubt a 0.85x version would sell well, which is a pity as i would buy one personally. Anyway i do the same bet as yours but my second bet is we'll have an M with live view and a clip-on EVF soon or late. I don't see any cons whatsoever against such an elegant solution. YMMV.
