Of course, they will need to use inferior technology, or go bankrupt trying to do what the Japanese and to some extent Kodak have mastered. Of course, the price will need to be substantially higher. I think it is fair to say that - no matter where which parts of the camera are manufactured - the concept of the camera is European or Leica-like. The straight, no-nonsense controls for aperture and shutter speed are something that cannot be found on any Japanese digital camera while they are typical for Leicas. Cannot do anything for you my friend as i cannot decide for Leica but a moderate zoom is one of the two only ways to seduce multi-focal-lengths users IMHO. It is yet very difficult to make a fast equiv. 35-70 in a small package, a 28-90 or a 25-50-90 would be necessarily bigger and/or slower i guess but i'm no techie at all.
