ppolla Posted December 12, 2009 Share #1 Posted December 12, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am very strongly considering what my next Leica purchase would be...to the point that I am willing to sell my canon 1D mkIII with lots of glass to get something good from Leica. So I own DL4....would X1 be the next natural step towards M system...or should I go into M8 or M9 immediately? I am also not 100% convinced that I should sell my DSLR equipment....that I used one weekend since June 2008... The reason of doubt is that while kids are growing up and playing around I would need something fast to take playground and sports snaps... What are your thoughts? Confused... elgenper Posted December 13, 2009 Share #3 Posted December 13, 2009 ...The reason of doubt is that while kids are growing up and playing around I would need something fast to take playground and sports snaps... ... Well, sports is entirely outside my personal universe, but for playing kids and dogs, the D-Lux 4 is really quite fast, if used in the right way. Zoom it to where you want, turn to manual focus and preset something suitable, say 2 o 3 m. Follow the action, keep yourself at about the set distance away (the big DoF will help a lot here), and shoot whenever something happens: almost no lag at all! And, you can turn on continous shooting and get quite nice series to choose from. I´ve done this a lot with my Digilux 2 which is very easy to preset in this way. And with the new firmware that lets the DL4 remember the settings, I anticipate using it too a lot more in this way.
ppolla Posted December 13, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted December 13, 2009 Sell the 1d and buy a cheaper DSLR and a X1. I think this is an interesting thought..not sure why I didn't think of it...but I guess a 7D would do the work...and then with some extra cash I would be able to get X1... Regrading shooting sports with DL4....I will need to do some extra training and I will give it a try... Paolo
