ZoomP Posted November 29, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 29, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi guys, I have a rigid summicron and a bokeh king (35 Summicron v.4). Both do not come with front caps. I am planning to get a chrome slip-on front cap for the Rigid and a black slip-on front cap for the 35 crons. Any idea whether I can still find this new from Pop Flash? N if so, what is the model? Thanks. I know both are 39mm filter size
Advertisement Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Hi ZoomP, Take a look here Front lens caps for Rigid and Bokeh king.... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Alice MacRae Posted November 29, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 29, 2009 Leica never made a cap for the original 12524 hood of the cron 35. However, the replacement 12526 hood comes with a dedicated cover/cap (Leica 14043). You can order this cap from Popflash for $25 but it won't fit the original 12524 hood, which I assume is the one you have. I'm also thinking of replacing my cracked 12524, but with the old rounded 12504 metal hood.

I don't have them with me here but aside from the colour of their buttons, the 12524 & 12526 hoods looked exactly the same when i took those pics IIRC. Alice MacRae Posted November 29, 2009 Share #4 Posted November 29, 2009 Yep, the 12524 and 12526 from your pictures look identical except for the two nubs at the front of the hood. The latter comes with an afterthought hood cap. Leica made its nubs more pronounced, i.e sharper edges so as to grip the "new" lens cap. On the 12524, the nubs were originally meant to assist you when mounting/unmounting the hood, not to grip a non-existent cap (before 14043). I think you'll loose more 14043s if you fit them onto the old 12524 more than to the intended new 12526. Better order a dozen!
microview Posted November 29, 2009 Share #5 Posted November 29, 2009 Although the serial number changed, I bought this week (Red Dot London) a new hood/cap for a version 4 35 Summicron which I had just found: the box says it suits either ASPH or pre-ASPH; serial 12 526. Robert White lists the end caps separately if you search 'Leica lens hoods' at Robert White - Specialist Camera and Photographic Suppliers of Nikon, Canon, Leica, Hasselblad, Mamiya, Zeiss Ikon, Voigtlander, Quantum etc.. rickp13 Posted December 20, 2009 Share #7 Posted December 20, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) thank you all for the information about caps for the 12524 lens shade. i was going to express my amazement at the depth of knowledge available on the forum on this "little" subject, but changed my mind. i'm ready to believe that somewhere, on some continent, there's a forum answer for almost any hardware compatibility question. i'll finish the hood cap issue after i've fitted a uv/ir filter to the summilux. greetings from hamburg rick
