vkstephenson Posted November 24, 2009 Share #42 Posted November 24, 2009 Yes please, as a soon to be owner of what "could" be considered as the first classic "digital camera"? I would be enthusiastic about using a specific forum seems warranted
hpu Posted November 24, 2009 Share #43 Posted November 24, 2009 My vote is YES as well! A digilux dedicated board would be great! Both the Digilux 2 and 3 are superb cameras and deserve they own board in this forum! Agree for 100% with this. I vot YES:D
farnz Posted November 24, 2009 Share #44 Posted November 24, 2009 It seems to me that *some* members may be mistakenly appealing for a separate D2 forum as a symbol of the D2's status rather than for the convenience of locating D2 threads and information. We need to be clear about motive and what's best for the forum as a whole, which is Andreas's responsibility as the forum's owner and administrator. Andreas has politely declined to alter the forum's and pointed to alternative methods of easily locating D2 threads so, as his non-paying guests, I suggest that we should gracefully accept his decision rather than to continue to put unnecessary pressure on him. For the record, I have 2 D2s but I have little difficulty in finding D2 threads in the Digital forum and occasionally using the search tool. Pete. John Thawley Posted November 24, 2009 Author Share #45 Posted November 24, 2009 My last comment on the matter. The Leica Gallery sees fit to create a Leica Masters Gallery for the Digilux series. Hmmm... Regarding forum structure, difficulty etc. With all due respect to Andreas and the work he does, I'm sorry... proclaiming difficulty and extending the structure and other "technical" issues is a moot point. They don't exist. He either wants to do it or doesn't want to do it. Let's not pretend it can't be done or it is difficult to do. That's simply not the case. He's stated he doesn't want it. daveleo Posted November 24, 2009 Share #47 Posted November 24, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) If John T. is correct that a separate D2 forum is NOT very difficult to set up and monitor, then I cast a strong YES vote .... (I have no idea what effort that takes) .... but I promise to TAG every topic I originate from now on, either way ;>))

elansprint72 Posted November 24, 2009 Share #49 Posted November 24, 2009 Add my voice to this chorus. If Andy thinks the D2 is orphaned, then he hasn't owned this sublime camera. If he has, I can't for the life of me understand the use of that term. Mine sits on my desk or night table. I use it almost everyday, far more often than any other camera. More than my DMR, M3, M2, CL, or various R bodies. It is far more attractive to look at than any M8 or M9 and renders a unique signature. It is a monument to design & function.... Andy can borrow my D2 any time he likes; I will, of course, require a substantial deposit because I know that he will want one after he tries it. comapedrosa Posted November 24, 2009 Share #50 Posted November 24, 2009 YES! For this might further show how good the D2 Gestalt was and attract the attention of the Camera Gods! Thanks!
dpitt Posted November 25, 2009 Share #51 Posted November 25, 2009 YES a separate forum would be nice. If changing the structure is that difficult, why did the M9 and X1 get a separate forum in the first place? It was there long before the camera's had any customer base to speak of. What are they going to do when the M10 comes out? I propose one forum for all Digital M, an other for Digilux, and then one general Digital for the rest. And of course a Digital rumours forum. A lot of the stuff about X1 still belongs there for the moment IMO. Once the X1 has a customer base it should be decided where it goes. IMHO the X1 belongs in the Digilux forum, price setting seems to point in that direction too. Just my 2c.
rsolomon Posted November 25, 2009 Share #52 Posted November 25, 2009 I would vote no, the current format is fine for me
mallo Posted November 25, 2009 Share #53 Posted November 25, 2009 I had a fashion shooting today, with my D2 and a canon 50d.. the Digilux destroyed the canon.. Quality and colors are something amazing.. and the built-in flash is great.
ajthornbury Posted November 27, 2009 Share #54 Posted November 27, 2009 A definite yes to a D2 board, the community group whilst attractive is cumbersome to use. Many posters don't even know it exists. lets keep trying for one.

Regards, Bill I know what you are saying Bill; but, unlike other digital forums; for both real and imaginary Leica digitals, there are no nutters on the D2 bus.
