Diese verdammten Deutschen! :D:D

I'm having difficulty not thinking of the M7 Hermes since you started talking about getting an M7. And now I find myself checking prices of new Leica M7 cameras at Meister Camera.

As if I didn't have enough to think about with M lenses and S2 cameras...

It's not a bad idea going forward to film.

This Leica stuff is contagious. From the moment on when I started wanting an M7 I obsessed about it. I looked so hard to find one. The one which I just bought was listed a few minutes before I found it. I feel lucky that I got it. And I think that the price was really good too.

Good luck Thorsten :) - if you rally want one, I'm sure that you get one, right?

Hi Bixi -

Welcome ( back ) to film. My M8 was in the shop for a while. Spen th elast few months shooting with my 20 + year old M6 - which I bought new. It has seen the roughest weather, fires, blizzards and the deserts of the middle east. It has NEVER failed to give me the shots I took - even when the batteries wilted. There is something about the tactile quality of a film image which still can not be equaled by digital - even with pp add ins like silver effex or alien skin. Enjoy your new toy and welcome "back" . Best. Coos

Sadly the M7 was dropped before being shipped. Now I'm looking again - I'm sure I'll find the right mach. Most likely a M7 but I'm considering other options.

Best,

Bixi

I bought my M8 classic 2.5 years ago and never used my 6 for about 2 years. I felt bad for the M6 so I put a roll of Tri-X and shot. WOW! "full frame"! I loved the results and started shooting with films again. Since then, I have acquired a M3 and a used M6TTL BP. I now have 3 film Ms and a M8c. I recently found the infamous 'fine line' in some photos that I shot with the M8 so I sent the camera to Leica USA. They want $1250 since my camera is out of warranty (I declined the repair).

In my case, having the full frame with the film Ms is huge. In addition, I get larger files from scanning the films on my Coolscan 5K :)

I will enjoy shooting with films until..... M10 comes out...

cheers

Sorry your first M7 fell through, Birgit. But I'm sure you find what you're looking for very shortly.

I can totally understand your wanting to explore a film M. I've only had my M9 for less than a week - a spectacular camera which I am already deeply fond of - but I'm already thinking that my M6 and M7 will integrate better with it than does my M8.

Hello Doc Henry,

I feel a little bit misfortunate in this regard. But in many other things in life I feel very fortunate.

The accident happened to the person who sold the camera to me. It's one of those things which can happen. Luckily it's not the end of the world. The M7 is getting looked at from a specialist. If it's all good or if it will be repaired, I'm still interest in it. The seller seems honest and loyal.

Best,

Birgit

The way I see it, it's the seller who is unfortunate in this case.

Hope that the M7 is ok so that, both Birgit and the seller are happy. :)
