eudemian Posted November 20, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 20, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ffordes phoned up and said I was top of the list for the M9. I had the money to plonk down, (having saved for a long while and sold a lens in preparation for the move) but I declined the temptation. I am trying to work out my reasons. First of all I can still squeeze a lot more out of my technique, abililties and prowess in using the M8 that I have. Secondly, I want to justify the cost of all those bloody filters, keeping the M8 makes me keep them on the lenses and hence justifies the purchase. Thirdly, once the M9 fever abated I was not that convinced that there was a significant enough an improvement. Put it this way, the improvement wasn't enticing enough. My M9 fund is now renamed the M10 fund. In the end it wasn't that tough a decision. This is not an M9 bashing thread, I want to be tempted but so far I haven't secumbed. Steve Ash Posted November 20, 2009 Share #5 Posted November 20, 2009 Tom, I am sorry to tell you that you are already behind others on the waiting list for the M10. Regards Steve PS: The good news is that there will be a business for Leica when the long order list will be worked off.
Speenth Posted November 20, 2009 Share #6 Posted November 20, 2009 I strongly empathise with this. My decision to wait for the M9 evolved in much the same way (except I never quite got round to ordering the M9). I'm looking foward to the M10 - things may have moved on sufficiently by then to justify the upgrade from my wonderful M8 - and given my careless tendencies, the M8 will probably be on its last legs by then anyway! Right now it gives great service well beyond my creative and technical capabilities.
spersky Posted November 20, 2009 Share #7 Posted November 20, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Honestly, that makes pretty good sense. It is really tough to justify an upgrade especially when your M8 is filling your needs. 7K is no joke. I never upgraded my 1Ds Mark II even when all those awsome upgraded digital Canons where released.
