adan Posted July 9, 2006 Share #21 Posted July 9, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Jerry: I like your logon. Back to the original question, I'm sure Leica over the years also probably did some studies (and maybe even prototypes) of a "Leica" medium-format film camera. Most likely they decided that their expertise was in lenses with the extreme resolution needed for 35mm (and 8mm - remember the Leicina?), and that they would leave the big clunky cameras and lenses to Hasselblad and Zeiss. leicapfile Posted July 10, 2006 Share #23 Posted July 10, 2006 Thanks Andy, but what else could I possibly use? Shot w/Leicas since the late 50's-Grandad, then Dad and Uncles, were Leica dealers from '34 through '67 in central IL-and when the ancestors arrived on the boat from Germany in 1858 the spelling was changed from Pfeil (German for arrow) to Pfile. After accumulating more bodies (6) and lenses (14) over 45+ years my Wife sure agrees with the moniker. However, if some well heeled forum member likes it, I'd trade it for a M8. humanized_form Posted July 10, 2006 Share #24 Posted July 10, 2006 the Mamiya 6&7 medium format rangefinders seem like extra large Leicas.
