Advertisement Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Hi biglouis, Take a look here Bare tree, bleak skies. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted November 18, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 18, 2009 Big - Quite beautiful, but for my taste it has two flaws. First, I think cropping the brown edge of the road from the right would make it better. Second, the overall image seems over processed.
pauledell Posted November 19, 2009 Share #3 Posted November 19, 2009 Louis, A lovely shot. I agree with Stuart about cropping the edge of the road at the right border and I would also suggest cloning the twig on the left edge just above the fence rail. azzo Posted November 19, 2009 Share #4 Posted November 19, 2009 Very nice indeed.
biglouis Posted November 19, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted November 19, 2009 Thanks for the comments. Truth is, I was not able to frame the tree correctly, it was blowing a gale at that point and I was a little anxious about being blown over! What about this? vdb Posted November 19, 2009 Share #6 Posted November 19, 2009 The fence leads the eye to the lovely skeletal shape of the tree...all about form so B&W does it.

allamande Posted November 20, 2009 Share #8 Posted November 20, 2009 Despite the title, there is hope in this scene. The massiveness of the tree provides it beautifully. I see Virgil's point about form, but I find the BW a little too flat (the bleakness emerges), so prefer the color. Ece
pauledell Posted November 20, 2009 Share #9 Posted November 20, 2009 Louis, I like the corrections you have made, but I agree the b&w might be a bit flat. Perhaps, a little more contrast would improve it. Actually, I had no problems with the color version. Paul
leicamann Posted November 21, 2009 Share #10 Posted November 21, 2009 This is very nice.. another instance where a bigger picture would help... I find the "noise reduction on the grain a bit harsh... use "lab color/ lightness" in Photoshop and do your noise reduction there..that way you don't "deconstruct the underlying pixels ". Anyhow that what I think is happening ..also this damn browser on the Leica server just destroys the image. Thanks for sharing Cheers, JRM
