euston Posted November 9, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 9, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) My M9 is working all right. What am I doing wrong? Or could it be that Leica has sharpened up its quality control for this one? No disrespect intended to those with faulty M9s, especially the imperfect sensors. It’s rotten luck but you do seem to be the exception. Come to think of it, there was one thing. My sensor was dirtier than I think it should have been but the rocket blower got the worst of it off. Edit: this post seems to have got me promoted to Benutzer. I hope this doesn’t mean that my beginner’s luck is going desert me.

wlaidlaw Posted November 9, 2009 Share #4 Posted November 9, 2009 The only problems I have had are the usual RF bugbear of taking photographs of the inside of the lens hood. I have not yet re-trained my M8 reflexes from shutting the power off to moving the shutter speed dial on the M9, so have had to pop the battery on a couple of occasions. Sensor cleaning is not as easy as the M8, especially to get into the corners. I now see that Visible Dust offers sensor corner cleaning sticks. I think I have got my sensor 100% clean from viewing with a sensor loupe and then after the shutter has closed, there are a few dust spicks on it again, which you can see on the sensor once you go back to shutter cleaning. Dust seems to stick to the shutter and then shakes loose when it closes. Wilson
tom0511 Posted November 10, 2009 Share #5 Posted November 10, 2009 I had an even bigger problem: a M8 which never let me down.
ho_co Posted November 10, 2009 Share #6 Posted November 10, 2009 My M9 is working all right. What am I doing wrong? Euston, this is indicative of obvious damage to camera or forum content. Return camera or resign forum membership. Edit: this post seems to have got me promoted to Benutzer. I hope this doesn’t mean that my beginner’s luck is going desert me. Gee, dude, sorry to hear that. They don't let you go back. And btw-- Congratulations, and thanks for the delightful post!

What am I doing wrong?snip this post seems to have got me promoted to Benutzer. I hope this doesn’t mean that my beginner’s luck is going desert me. is getting your hands on an M9 I am beginning to despair about mine coming in, but I am pleased to learn that Leica is getting serious about QC there seem to be much less problems reported with the M9 than I remember with the M8 I keep telling myself that I want Leica to get this one right and in particular the M9 I will get someday
