Guest flatfour Posted November 19, 2009 Share #6 Posted November 19, 2009 Very nice picture indeed, but not much like Christmas. I was hoping for something more festive and celebratory.
Guest stnami Posted November 23, 2009 Share #7 Posted November 23, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was hoping for something more festive and celebratory. Financial crisis........ there were only just enough funds for the snow, had to cut back on the tree as well

geaibleu Posted November 30, 2009 Share #10 Posted November 30, 2009 The picture itself is a very good one in terms of composition and subject, no qualms about it. However, its foggy sadness has nothing remotely connected to Xmas festivities, which by definition are the celebration of the coming back of light and certainly not its disappearance. Furthermore, even though B&W seems aimed at depicting the Leica elite, the fact remains that color, through Leica's M8, M9, S2 et al is what really matters for Xmas and should thus be shown. Good picture, bad choice!
leica_m4p Posted December 1, 2009 Share #11 Posted December 1, 2009 I can understand the sentiments, however from their poses the characters look pretty happy and snow is synonymous with Christmas. I think it's a great image.
dkCambridgeshire Posted December 2, 2009 Share #12 Posted December 2, 2009 Rather too bleak for a Christmas card and personally I find it rather too dull and uninteresting as a winter scene. No real Christmas message in the picture. dunk
michael friedberg Posted December 3, 2009 Share #13 Posted December 3, 2009 Rather too bleak for a Christmas card and personally I find it rather too dull and uninteresting as a winter scene. No real Christmas message in the picture. dunk Bah. Humbug. You are right, but it is a great image. And appropriate for the Season.
PiRIUS Posted December 6, 2009 Share #14 Posted December 6, 2009 A truly remarkable photograph made so by the "snow people" being there in the correct position and the perfect size. Congratulations!
Spotlight Posted December 14, 2009 Share #15 Posted December 14, 2009 Nice pic. But where is Christmas in it?
frozenace Posted December 18, 2009 Share #16 Posted December 18, 2009 It's Santa Clause and 1 elf during the financial crisis, they've made all the reindeer redundant.
al-fresco Posted December 18, 2009 Share #17 Posted December 18, 2009 I think it's a great image and it's plenty Christmassy enough for me. I'm all for realism but on this occasion I prefer the illusions in this 'Ghost of Christmas Past.'
bagpuss Posted December 28, 2009 Share #18 Posted December 28, 2009 That is a beautiful, beautiful shot.
carl_valiquet Posted December 30, 2009 Share #19 Posted December 30, 2009 I think this photograph is very evocative and poetic. As a Canadian, living for the moment in Bali, Indonesia, this image reminds me of the time off I could take away from my studio between Christmas and New Year to enjoy Winter with my family and friends. The Balinese consider that in order to have balance in Life, light and dark must co- exist. True Christmas is a time to celebrate light, but it also a time to reflect on the years past. I think this photograph evokes this. Congratulations for the image Ralph.
