Advertisement Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 Hi vdb, Take a look here Chama River Valley,NM. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
leicamann Posted November 5, 2009 Share #2 Posted November 5, 2009 Love the colors and I can tell you they are spot on, I know this area quite well . As for the composition, that is debatable..once again its digital..why fear experimenting a little.??? I would have tried framing that dark branch in many ways, in this case , it discecting the mountain flattens the image and takes away from a certain depth.... I would have used the branch to "frame" the image rather than cutting it up ...unless it had a "zen shape"...then that would be more important. Thanks for sharing Cheers, JRM
vdb Posted November 5, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted November 5, 2009 Thanks for commenting JRM. I was hypnotized by the colors....and smells....and light.....made me delusional...
stuny Posted November 5, 2009 Share #4 Posted November 5, 2009 Virgil - Understandable. The color, and light are wonderful, as are the details in your photo. I must agree with John, though, about the impact of the branch's placement.
vdb Posted November 5, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted November 5, 2009 Thanks Stuart. You are both very correct. I must now plan my next trip ASAP and retake this...
storybrown Posted November 5, 2009 Share #6 Posted November 5, 2009 I like this picture very much; it is a seductive color shot, and the placement of the dark branch awakens plenty of creative attention. A more conventionally composed foto might be technically superior but really less interesting. Here, one is simultaneously taken by the tones and subject and engaged in what might be done with the branch. (A MF might be the ticket for including the background peak "just so.")
