On the first outing with my new Leica camera, I hiked along the trails in Fillmore Glen State Park. The park is located in the Finger Lakes Region of New York near Moravia, about 40 miles southwest of Syracuse. This is a beautiful and peaceful place my wife and I have enjoyed for over thirty years.

I sat in the mud along the Gorge Trail to take this photograph. Thanks to Thorsten Overgaard's advice, I was able to capture this scene in late afternoon light with a long exposure--handheld.

The longish exposure adds a nice continuousness to the image, which is lovely for composition, light, contrast, detail and tonal range. My only complaint is that with my puny monitor (17") I must scroll to see the entire image. Ideal height for my monitor is 580 pixels.

I really appreciate all of your kind comments. My friends, wife and other hikers were amused by the sight of me sitting in the mud with my camera. One guy passing by even asked if I needed help. He was probably right... ;)
