earleygallery Posted November 9, 2009 Share #21  Posted November 9, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Bill, it's obvious that an apple would win a fight, they're hard to the core.  I scratch my head everytime I see a Mango for sale, I mean who's going to pay £1.50 for that when you can buy a whole bag of oranges for the same price. Mango producers really need to address their market strategy or they simply aren't going to survive.

dhsimmonds Posted November 9, 2009 Share #22  Posted November 9, 2009 I don’t know guys. I still can’t help looking at the cost of the X1 with the viewfinder combined with the Leica system case. Then I look at the street price of the 5D Mk II body. I wonder if I’m the only photog scratching my head.Regards,  Daniel.....but the 5DMk2 doesn't have the red dot and that's what makes the difference! jsrockit Posted November 9, 2009 Share #23 Â Posted November 9, 2009 Daniel.....but the 5DMk2 doesn't have the red dot and that's what makes the difference! Â It has nothing to do with the red dot... it has to do with the type of camera people prefer to use. The X1 is closer to a M than to an SLR. I don't care for using SLRs. The Canon is just not an option for me.

dkCambridgeshire Posted November 10, 2009 Share #28  Posted November 10, 2009 Two UK Leica dealers are now advertising the the X1 offer ie priority delivery and 3 year warranty subject to £425 deposit. Has anyone taken up these offers and if so was the price quoted 'firm' regardless of Leica price increases and VAT rate change?  Cheers  dunk
dkCambridgeshire Posted November 10, 2009 Share #29  Posted November 10, 2009 Two UK Leica dealers are now advertising the the X1 offer ie priority delivery and 3 year warranty subject to £425 deposit. Has anyone taken up these offers and if so was the price quoted 'firm' regardless of Leica price increases and VAT rate change? Cheers  dunk  My question has been answered by my dealer who has just confirmed by phone that they are also offering same terms as Red Dot, Harrisons and Mayfair - ie with firm price regardless of any price increase or VAT rate change plus a 3 year warranty. Thus I have paid the £425 deposit and dealer will contact Leica UK tomorrow to place my order . Leica UK then contacts Leica Germany who will allocate a priority order number which ensures priority delivery as soon as camera is available.  Has taken almost one week to receive this confirmation - but was eventually given.  Appears that Leica's communications to certain dealers could be a lot better.  Cheers  dunk  Edit: But now my dealer has sent me an Email stating that Leica UK is not extending the offer to all dealers because more X1 cameras are likely to be available than originally anticipated. But - because two dealers are still advertising the offer, Leica UK will extend the offer subject to payment of the deposit. It gets curiouser and curioser. If you are want the 3 year warranty and firm price with any dealer other than the aforementioned, you are advised to check and make sure your particular dealer can still offer it. This all seems a bit 'shall we - shan't we' ... Why couldn't they make the offer with all dealers in the first place?? All very frustrating for both customers and dealers. I think someone may have slipped up with communications somewhere along the line.
