msap7222 Posted October 29, 2009 Share #1  Posted October 29, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi everyone, fresh back from Uganda where I had the use of an M9 from the Australian distributor - Adeal  I spent a week in a tiny impoverished but hope filled village with no running water or electricity - some of you may remember my post from early October - thanks and I took a lot of your advice (Colorspace Storage Device, Batteries)  The camera worked flawlessly - well, almost. At less than 80%? full battery charge continuous shooting locked up this camera a-la-M8. It was no biggie, however, I simply opened the base, took out the battery, back in and all was well.  I tend to shoot single images anyway.  I was kinda hoping to collect a slight elephant footprint on the corner of the top plate rendering the loaned M9 useable but unsaleable by the distributors but available to me for free or little money but no dice ... They needed the camera back for press.  Apart from that - very impressed. Good step forward from the M8 which I own and love.  The designers are currently working on the book and have shortlisted the images down to the best 100 or so. I believe this to be the first book photographed completely with the M9 and in the final stages of publication - can anyone verify this?  I shot everything available light (although I took an SF24-D and TTL Cord with me for emergencies)  My equipment bag was the following:  M9 Black M8 Black (in case of M9 unrecoverable failure) 15mm CV 24/2.8 ASPH 35/2 50/1.4 Pre-Asph 90/2.8 (thin) 135/4 (1969?) 2 x OEM M9/M8 batteries 10 x Hong Kong Made M9/M8 batteries (awesome, 90% capacity of OEM and only $10 each!) Colorspace UDMA 320GB Digital Photo Bank 10 x 16GB SD cards (Sandisk) Domke F6 Bag Nokia N95 8GB Phone/SATNAV with Energizer Backup Battery  I will post some images as soon as I can take a breath - the publishers are all over me like white on rice as they want to book to be on the shelves for Christmas ... THIS YEAR!  Thanks to all of you on the forums for your pre-trip assistance!  Mark Welcome, dear visitor! scott kirkpatrick Posted October 29, 2009 Share #5 Â Posted October 29, 2009 Congratulations! I look forward to seeing more from your selection, and maybe ordering the book for Christmas (this year!). Â Now on $10 batteries, could you spell out carefully which ones worked for you? I don't assume that all Hong Kong batteries are the same. Â I hope you will alert Leica to your project, since they would probably still have a shortage of good material not about boxing to use in their publicity.
