earleygallery Posted January 26, 2007 Author Share #47 Posted January 26, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just a reminder about this one, 12:30ish onwards at the Citte of Yorke, just a casual meet and chat, and bring your camera, if you have an M8 I can have a play with Remember there are several Leica dealers in the area so its a good excuse to spend some cash too, or just waste some time in Classic Camera, but you might want to save enough for a pint or two! dhsimmonds Posted January 26, 2007 Share #51 Posted January 26, 2007 The venue shall be the Citte of Yorke, 22 High Holborn, a quite magnificent inn which offers some photogenic opportunities itself, not least the central open fire with a chimney which goes down into the floor! Details, directions and map here; James, I see there are 3 bars including a cellar bar. Just 'cos I'm lazy, which one? See you tomorrow, sorry no M8 but will have my R9/DMR same as last time but now in full use! I have bought my train and station car park tickets already! farnz Posted January 26, 2007 Share #52 Posted January 26, 2007 James, I'm planning on being there; how will I recognise you: a white chrysanthemum in the left lapel buttonhole or a secret phrase like "the goose flies east at midnight" perhaps? Pete.
farnz Posted January 26, 2007 Share #53 Posted January 26, 2007 ... or should I just keep a lookout for Dave's fighter-bomber parked by the bar?

earleygallery Posted January 26, 2007 Author Share #55 Posted January 26, 2007 Robert, I'll take you up on that offer thanks! Dave, I will try to get the big table at the back of the 'hall' (the rear bar) but if not there's a few tables in the window at the front that would accommodate us all. Check the front bar as you come in (there's a corridor entrance with a door to the front bar through which you can walk to the rear bar). The hall bar is very impressive so it would be nice to be in there. Don't worry about finding us, just look for the Leica's (and I'll wear my Leica red dot pin badge!). Any 'newcomers' reading this, don't be shy come along! Everyone is very welcome. I should just point out the longstanding tradition however that first timers at such meetings have to get a round in
andybarton Posted January 27, 2007 Share #56 Posted January 27, 2007 Do they still have the booths on the right there?
spylaw4 Posted January 27, 2007 Share #57 Posted January 27, 2007 It was a real pleasure to meet all you guys who attended today's most enjoyable meeting! biglouis Posted January 27, 2007 Share #58 Posted January 27, 2007 Brian I agree - you should change your photo :-) Great to meet everyone and see all that interesting Leica kit Thanks to James for arranging it LouisB
dhsimmonds Posted January 27, 2007 Share #59 Posted January 27, 2007 I must add my thanks to James too. It was great to see everyone........what was the count 12 or 13 forum members? Good to see a mixture of Leica hardware and glass, and an Rd-1 for good measure. Brian was of course instantly recognisable. The cider was good too James!! Today was the day when the Citte of York pub in Holborn became a real Barnack's Bar!
