elansprint72 Posted October 19, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 19, 2009 Indeed! Although travelling more than 20km in one leads to permanent hearing loss! As for the background...... is it an Ashley? Steed will know. Nice pair Charlie.
stuny Posted October 19, 2009 Share #3 Posted October 19, 2009 Charlie - Lovely shots, lovely subject, beautifully prepared car. To really appreciate these you have to see them up close to see just how tiny they are.

topoxforddoc Posted October 27, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted October 27, 2009 Pete, Stu and Steed, Thanks for your comments. It would be unbelievable nowadays to have a car like this designed by an accountant, like Peter Kirwan-Taylor. Just beautiful in every way. USA road racer Posted November 13, 2009 Share #6 Posted November 13, 2009 The blue #3 sure looks like an Elva coupe' to me !! A friend of mine & his father used to race Elvas in SCCA National races 10 years ago. The rules permitted an MGA or MGB engine with a weight penalty for the larger engine. The A motor car was Fast. They are now running several Lotus 23s in vintage racing. I sure wish I wasn't such a tall person. I cannot fit into an Elite with my 6'1" frame! I have a difficult time getting into an Elan and Super Sevens are also out unless the tops down.

Apart from his shoe size that is! And of course you are correct about the Elva Courier.
Guest flatfour Posted November 18, 2009 Share #8 Posted November 18, 2009 The early Elites had fibreglass trouble as the colour pigment broke down the glass structure. I knew of someone who had the rear strut mountings collapse because of it.
