I went to see him at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester; he arrived nearly two hours late, somewhat the worse for wear, played two chords (badly), said F......... this etc. and made like Elvis. The crowd were not amused and got a refund. :D

I guess that was about '73 or ''74.

Nice series of photos.

Thanks guys, the boy is slowly getting the hang of the CL with the VC II meter.

Ben: this was the Astral Weeks stuff he is touring with now. Well worth seeing.

Astral Weeks Tour

One thing I have learnt is they hang back on the other dates and usually announce 6-8 weeks ahead.

Pete: Yep, had that experience several times in the early years with him :( Last year at the Hammersmith Apollo he apologised for starting 10 mins late!!

You should be proud of him. Nice work :)

Seen Van Morrison twice now. 1st time in a double bill with Ray Charles at the MEN, second time with Paul Carrick in tow at Chester Racecourse. Two great nights out.

Super series ! Congratulations to Jack indeed...

I've been fortunate to have seen Van the Man several times over the years. He used to be married to a Danish girl and has done quite a number of concert here... always worth the while !

Jack,

A very enjoyable series. Your "great night" comes across in the images.

I saw Van once - Lisdoonvarna 1983 - but I have to say I was bored witless. I've never been much of a Van fan. Now when Christy Moore come on after him that was something else :)
