wilfredo Posted July 24, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 24, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Meet theatre director Ediberto Saldana. I picked up a used 75mm f/2.5 Voiglandter lens today and was eager to take a few shots with it on my Monochrom. Thank you Eddie for being a good sport! Welcome, dear visitor! menos I M6 Posted July 24, 2014 Share #2 Posted July 24, 2014 Congrats Wilfredo! I am glad you like the new lens - look at the foliage! Not many rangefinder lenses in this range and price can do such smooth foliage like the little 75/2.5. On the Mono, I like a yellow filter and in certain light (with people not dominating the frame) an orange filter on this lens - but using contrast filters with the Mono is a very subjective thing. I use them all the time, but I understand there rare people who shoot the Mono without filters and work their magic in post processing.
wilfredo Posted July 24, 2014 Author Share #3 Posted July 24, 2014 Dirk, I had a UV filter on the lens for this shot, I will have to purchase a yellow filter to experiment with. I have't been using color filters but it seems that many like the use of a yellow or orange filter on the MM. I'm always willing to experiment. What is your preference for people shots? From your comment I'm assuming it's yellow. The bokeh with this lens is very pleasing, it's not magical but more pleasing than what I've gotten in the past from a Zeiss lens. This bokeh compares well with Leica glass, IMHO.
stuny Posted July 24, 2014 Share #4 Posted July 24, 2014 Terrific. Is he in your congregation?
wilfredo Posted July 24, 2014 Author Share #5 Posted July 24, 2014 The first shot I posted above was shot at f/5.6 or f/8. Here's another shot with the lens wide open. The light is different for this one. I'm pleased with the result. It's not as clinically sharp as my 50mm ASPH LUX, but it's not bad either, and I think the ladies will prefer this. LOL Cheers! wilfredo Posted July 24, 2014 Author Share #10 Posted July 24, 2014 Thank you all. I always felt there were no bad lenses on a Leica M8 (my previous digital M). I'm having the same thoughts, even more so, with the Leica Monochrom. Louis: Yes, he was very pleased and changed his profile picture on FB. He's a good and humble soul, I think that comes through in the photos.
robert_parker Posted July 24, 2014 Share #11 Posted July 24, 2014 Hi Wilfredo That's a nice camera and lens combination - I particularly like the first image but both show a nice natural relaxed pose, which makes for a strong portrait and also excellent reportage
