tmldds Posted June 21, 2010 Share #6 Posted June 21, 2010 Excellent Wilfredo. What a lens as well. I could only afford the pre-asph one. Tri:)
wilfredo Posted June 21, 2010 Author Share #7 Posted June 21, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Henry and Tri, Thank you. Tri, In order to purchase this lens I had to sell equipment I already owned. I also dipped into my special savings. I plan to keep this lens for life, or as long as Leica keeps making digital M's. I've decided to keep things simple with regards to my M8 kit, one camera, and two lenses: 35mm Summicron ASPH and now the 50mm LUX ASPH.

Doc Henry Posted June 21, 2010 Share #10 Posted June 21, 2010 Henry and Tri, Thank you. Wilfredo, Do not forget that a 50 mm on a M8 corresponds roughly to a 75mm and is ideal for portraits Are you agree ? Henry

wilfredo Posted June 22, 2010 Author Share #14 Posted June 22, 2010 Thank you all for sharing in my excitement for this lens. I am very pleased with it's performace wide open. It certainly beats both my 50mm and 85mm Zeiss lenses @f1.4. I use these other lenses on my Canon DSLR. Ben, Yes, the marriage is consummated, may it last forever indeed :-). Henry, On the M8 it becomes a 65mm lens, which still makes for an excellent portrait lens. I anticipate using it this way a lot.
likalar Posted June 22, 2010 Share #15 Posted June 22, 2010 Cool portrait! Her smile is just right for the workout of a new lens. May your lens smile on you often. Larry (one of the other smiling photographers ;-) )
ty sonoma Posted June 22, 2010 Share #16 Posted June 22, 2010 ...at the risk of piling on... I will also say that the combination of great optics, a skilled photographer, and an attractive model equal a beautiful and appealing image Cheers 8-)
wilfredo Posted June 22, 2010 Author Share #17 Posted June 22, 2010 Thank you Larry and Ty. I will let Carolin know how much everyone appreciated her portrait. She's actually a bit on the shy side. I think the news will help her crack a smile.
