Riccis Posted March 2, 2009 Share #1 Posted March 2, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'll start posting the analog images from the new 24 lux in this thread. This is the first scan from a roll I shot in the house today while my son was making me a pizza (I know, I'm very lucky and the whole thing was very cute). MP, 24 lux and Neopan 400. Enjoy! antistatic Posted March 2, 2009 Share #4 Posted March 2, 2009 Looks like the dog will get the pizza before you do. Lovely photo. Shame I would have to sell my children's kidneys to afford one.
TimF Posted March 2, 2009 Share #5 Posted March 2, 2009 Looks like the dog will get the pizza before you do. Lovely photo. Shame I would have to sell my children's kidneys to afford one. Dog, Pizza or Lens? Great picture. I love the moment.
Holmz Posted March 2, 2009 Share #6 Posted March 2, 2009 Is leica paying you to post these shots? They are looking just too good and make me really want one, even though I know I couldn't use it as well as what I have seen here.
stuny Posted March 2, 2009 Share #7 Posted March 2, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Riccis - Be certain to give your son a framed copy of this now and another when he turns 21. Superb for moment, composition, light, contrast and tonal richness.
andybarton Posted March 2, 2009 Share #8 Posted March 2, 2009 This is a lovely shot, and I am very much looking forward to seeing more of what this lens can do when used to its full extent. Please post more
biglouis Posted March 2, 2009 Share #9 Posted March 2, 2009 Riccis I don't want to be critical - the shot is very nice but I've yet to be wowed by this lens. I've looked at your stream on Flickr and even positively commented about another shot in the forum. So far, I can't see the focus point in any of the shots. I own the 35-lux and on the M8 I find it to be pin sharp and easy to focus at f1.4. I would have thought a wider angled lens would be even easier (incidentally I find my lux-50/1.4 to be a complete b*st*rd when focussing wide open but it is a non-asph lens). I was similarly left cold by the photos in LFI of the 21/1.4. I have always been struck at how prettily the current 24/2.8 control oof areas wide open and apart from the speed advantage I'm not sure (yet) that I've seen an example of either lens that would stir the longing one gets for certain pieces of Leica glass. I sincerely hope I see that in your captures in the near future (not commenting on the content, which is always interesting and well observed) just the technical features of the lens itself. Sorry if this is a dissenting view in the thread but I am only reporting what I see so far - which of course is difficult to determine given the size constraints on postings. Perhaps you can post some 100% crops? LouisB
doug_m Posted March 2, 2009 Share #10 Posted March 2, 2009 Riccis, Please keep posting. The last poster's criticism should not deter you. The photo is very nice and we want to see more from the 24 lux. We should all not get too carried away with picking apart photos posted on this site because its hard to do the images full justice on these forums. goldchen96 Posted March 2, 2009 Share #13 Posted March 2, 2009 Whatever else the photos taken with the new 1,4 wide-angles will tell us in the near future, isn't it just beautiful how nicely you can separate the subject from the background with a lens this wide? Try this with my Panasonic LX3, looks horrible, most likely. Nice photo, Riccis...

bybrett Posted March 2, 2009 Share #15 Posted March 2, 2009 Exquisite! Sometimes the best shots are closer to home than we imagine. Thanks for sharing your work and your family. And the lens draws well too.

Riccis Posted March 3, 2009 Author Share #19 Posted March 3, 2009 I made a couple of images at the closest focusing distance to show off the bokeh since I was not able to shoot my son that way... They were pretty quick and sloppy shots since I feared the folks at Whole Foods were going to kick me out even though I was shopping For the flowers, I focused on the stem on the center of the frame and the lady you see in the background I assume was about 2 feet away from me. For the oranges, I focused on the navel of the fourth orange (center row from the top down). Again, nothing special but I've received a lot of messages asking for the wide open look at the closest focusing distance. Cheers, Welcome, dear visitor! Guest maddoc2003jp Posted March 3, 2009 Share #20 Posted March 3, 2009 I can't tell about the navel of the orange but that sign to the left is pretty damned sharp !! Now I am keen to see how the lens performs at f/1.4 in the night with some nasty bright lights in the frame ... Thanks again for sharing !!
