anyone tried the new version of the 35 1.2 CV on an M9? Any difference between the new and old version in the images? I am curious to try one out. I had the old one and liked it but found that images were kind of 'blotchy'... It was also very large for a 35... the new one is smaller and I think has different optics...

OK- managed to secure one of these lenses.

Build quality seems really good- very solid feeling with positive movements. Glass looks superb.

Unpacked the lens- put it on the m9 coded as a 35 1.4 lux. Took it out to our Royal Show (an agricultural fair) for a quick night time spin.

Nearly destroyed my lens and camera when my artisan and artist bag got caught on my motorbike rack. The bag turned upside down and camera and lens flipped out and flew towards the asphalt road. By a miracle the camera strap wrapped around my scooter indicator stalk and caught the camera just before it hit the road- just like a bungee jumper. Lost a little paint off the camera baseplate but it could have been a total wreck gvent he speed it was moving towards the road... disaster avoided by pure luck. I am not going to add a secure clasp to my camera bag: what the heck were A&A thinking when they made a camera bag secured only by velco. I was a fool to ever trust it... when I first got it I looked at it and thought: that's no good. Then I just forgot about it and became complacent. This is the road to ruin...

Any how having avoided a very expensive accident- I hit the show:

Missed a lot of focus... Have to test it further to see if it was just me as usual...

There is that magenta flare- just like the Noctilux- but it also seems to share some of the Nocti's more desirable elements. Some images had a very three dimensional quality and the lens really sucked up the light at f1.2.

Here are a bunch of random shots- all f1.2- just lens testing- nothing special- but so far I a am having a good feeling about this lens on my M9:

How the motorcyclist at the far right managed to land on that truck/ramp I will never know- but he did. Looking at the image it seems impossible...

I just got a C/V 35mm f/1.2 vII just like you.

Its turning out to be one of my favorite lenses.

Your shots at night look very promising.

I aseptically like the colors. Did you set

anything special for your "White Balance"

or was it on "Auto"? Oh, congratulations

on not destroying the M. I use a small

"Think Tank" waist pack as a camera Bag.

color was just set to auto- these images have not been tweaked much- a little sharpening and desaturation is about all (the colours were overblown- partly the lens partly the lighting).

Love the M9P in black- looking great. I made an error in my post above- I AM going to add a clasp onto my A&A bag. Can't believe they sell them like they do... Don't trust it.

Auto did a fine job. On occasion small fairs

with rides and such come to town. Your

photos have inspired me to check out yet

another photo opportunity. I always just

drove by.

Yah, I have a Tenba bag that just uses

velcro to keep its flap closed. Its looking

like a bad idea. I really like Think Tank

bags. Their a little pricy but made extremely

well.

Leica M9-P Viewfinder blockage from a

C/V 35mm f/1.2 Ver.II WITHOUT a Hood.

About an 8th of the Viewfinder is blocked.

It would be more with its Hood but they're

still on Back Order.

Yes, the C/V 35 was focused at infinity. I used a little

Canon ELPH to take the shot. Its Macro setting doesn't

focus close enough to get inside of the M viewfinder in

focus.

I don't find the blockage objectionable, but I'm not you.

Any BIG lens is going to require you to compromise a bit.

Q: Was the lens set an infinity ? In any case, quite a bit, thx for this info.

But not uncommon for NOCTI, NOKTON and the like.

best GEORG

Sorry, I missed the second part of you question.

Some lenses include a viewfinder and/or a lens

hood. In this case neither was included. I ordered

the hood and was eMailed that they were stuck

in Customs and would be sent out as soon as the

importer received them. The Hood added a little

over $100 (US of A) to the price. The total came

to around $1,600.

the blockge isn't too bad- I only noticed it a little when using the lens the other night. Not as much as the obvious version of this lens that's for sure. This lens seems to be well priced in Australia at the moment- I paid around 1250 AUD for my example- but got no hood.

I know they are different beasts- but I would be happy to post direct comparisons of this lens and a 50 Nocti f1 if anyone is interested.

Ha, ha, ha, sometimes I do things that make me look like a

blonde. This photo is the viewfinder blockage with my 1.25X

viewfinder Magnifier REMOVED. I use a 35mm and a 75mm

so this Magnifier is perfect for those two lenses.

Here we are: the CV 35 arrived yesterday and this is my

VERY first photograph taken with it, focused on the loupe to the left.

The lens feels fine, no reason to complain about quality and it works

like a charm on the M9.

The others are from within and from the front of my pub last night,

all taken at f1.2.

Thx Jaques for your hint to this lens, without it, it would have

taken much longer to decide.

Best wishes

GEORG

Wanted to share this colorversion of #4 as well.

The shop is situated next to a place where you can study those

textiles applied to real world people ...
