Doc Henry Posted February 9, 2015 Author Share #8 Posted February 9, 2015 Henry, god composition, interesting pattern and very haptic feeling in a great rendering Iduna I am sorry for this late reply Thank you for your nice comment Now with the M9, even for correction, I can not have the same color as the film ! Hot climatic condition, very sunny, probable saturation of the sensor The film has more dynamics for this gap of light Your opinion ? Welcome, dear visitor! MarkP Posted February 10, 2015 Share #9 Posted February 10, 2015 The colours from the film photo are beautiful and preferred to my eye (the richness and saturation of the colour look as if a polarising fiter was used - I'm not implying one was), but I just wonder whether the M9's photo may be closer to the original colours and of course the file can be manipulated in PP- no? Doc Henry Posted February 10, 2015 Author Share #10 Posted February 10, 2015 The colours from the film photo are beautiful and preferred to my eye (the richness and saturation of the colour look as if a polarising fiter was used - I'm not implying one was), but I just wonder whether the M9's photo may be closer to the original colours and of course the file can be manipulated in PP- no? Mark I tried on LR but impossible to have the same color . I think the perception of color in strong sunlight is for something ! the rock and water are better reproduced by the film Best Henry
Iduna Posted February 10, 2015 Share #11 Posted February 10, 2015 Henry, a very interesting result and in this as such also good but if you consider the film version ther is no comparison of the presence of the rock and its color. But I do not know whether you tried to work on WB and local contrasts. In these cases I apply more than one software to get to realize what I see. Essential is not to loose any data in the highlights. Here is the main difference to analogue process. Digital is sometimes really tricky and therefore I use tripod to get 2-3 versions or use a filter.
Doc Henry Posted February 10, 2015 Author Share #12 Posted February 10, 2015 Iduna, I just tried to move the cursor "saturation" on LR.I get a color a little red, but impossible to have the red of the original rock as on the film , with this black color at the bottom. Not easy in my opinion ! With a filter, what type of filter do you think ? I think that digital can only give a "rough" picture but not the reality of what we see ! wildlightphoto Posted February 14, 2015 Share #18 Posted February 14, 2015 I took the liberty of opening the Portra 400 and M9 versions of the photos in Photoshop and using the Photoshop Curves adjustment, I reduced the midpoint of the green and blue channels of the M9 version to match the Portra 400 version exactly. Took about 2 minutes. Beautiful photos, either way.
