andybarton Posted February 11, 2007 Author Share #8 Posted February 11, 2007 I waited thirty minutes so that the sun would just get round to the cross. It was in shadow until then.
elansprint72 Posted February 11, 2007 Share #9 Posted February 11, 2007 I waited thirty minutes so that the sun would just get round to the cross. It was in shadow until then. Turning into Ansell Adams? You'll be using a mule to carry your gear next! It was worth the wait. Cheers, Pete.
jonoslack Posted February 11, 2007 Share #10 Posted February 11, 2007 HI Andy Lovely - and well worth the wait.
andybarton Posted February 11, 2007 Author Share #11 Posted February 11, 2007 Turning into Ansell Adams? You'll be using a mule to carry your gear next! It was worth the wait. Cheers, Pete. Not at all! I knew that the sun was going to come round and strike the cross, bringing out the detail and the texture. I thought it was worth waiting for. You can see that the extreme right hand edge of the horizontal member of the cross is still in shadow.
jonoslack Posted February 11, 2007 Share #12 Posted February 11, 2007 Not at all! I knew that the sun was going to come round and strike the cross, bringing out the detail and the texture. I thought it was worth waiting for. You can see that the extreme right hand edge of the horizontal member of the cross is still in shadow. Absolutely Waiting half an hour for a shot, and you're almost Ansell Adams already! (none the worse for that though). Did you use a tripod?

elansprint72 Posted February 11, 2007 Share #14 Posted February 11, 2007 I never presume that the sun is going to come round. Did you try this in monochrome? The detail in the cross looks worth a go.

Chaipaval Posted February 13, 2007 Share #19 Posted February 13, 2007 Terrific detail and colours - out of interest how tall is that cross?
andybarton Posted February 13, 2007 Author Share #20 Posted February 13, 2007 Thanks guys. I will look at a B&W version at the weekend - the detail and sharpness across the frame with the 19 is fantastic and it would probably work well in B&W. I reckon the cross is sbout 20 feet tall - something like that.
