Overgaard Posted May 11, 2008 Share #1 Posted May 11, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Don't know why I didn't notice this one before. But it's a cool shot in any case. http://honeyz818.files.wordpress.com/2007/02/brad-pitt-interview-magazine-011.jpg Oh, damn. Just noticed it has a film rewinder which does make it not an M8. But anyways...

andybarton Posted May 11, 2008 Share #5 Posted May 11, 2008 M6 There's no "Auto" on the speed dial and what looks like two rows of text just protruding from his finger. Leica M6 TTL Photo Gallery by Equipment Database at pbase.com
Guest jimmy pro Posted May 11, 2008 Share #6 Posted May 11, 2008 M7. There is an "AUTO" setting (in color) on the shutterspeed dial. Betcha the photog dug it out of his own bag and handed it to Pitt as a prop.

Philippe D. Posted May 11, 2008 Share #9 Posted May 11, 2008 Right that's the camera sorted now lets id the lens I vote for an Elmarit-M 90mm If I see Brad Pitt one of these days (he is, with his whole family, a neighbour for a couple of months), i'll ask him. andybarton Posted May 11, 2008 Share #10 Posted May 11, 2008 M7. There is an "AUTO" setting (in color) on the shutterspeed dial. Betcha the photog dug it out of his own bag and handed it to Pitt as a prop. You can see the "A" of Leica and the "6" of M6 under his finger My M7 has "Auto" written out in full - this example doesn't. Could easily be "Off", though. (Not that I'm bothered what Brad Pitt uses... ) Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! luigi bertolotti Posted May 11, 2008 Share #12 Posted May 11, 2008 - M6 : M7 has the "long times" 2s 4s : they don't appear, and even the "count" of the engraved exp. times suggests they aren't present. - Lens : Apo-Summilux 50 : 4+4+1 f/stop values on the DOF scale : must be 16-11-8-4-2-4-8-11-16 : Elmarit 90 has 3+3+1 ; besides this, another f stop value can be spotted (unclear) at far right : must be 2 to 16 ("5,6" is rather recognizable). The closest alternative is Apo Summicron 75...similar DOF scale... the distance scales are very similar in both, and coherent with the pic, but the focus ring seems tapered... and its dimension more similar to the 50's one. I did save the pic and enlarged (ILLEGALLY, I think )... but corrected my post in the middle: am convinced, now, that lens is a Lux 50....

rob_x2004 Posted May 12, 2008 Share #16 Posted May 12, 2008 Pitt and his M's raise its ugly face every couple of years. Trouble with guys like Pitt and who we like to think are drongos, theyve got to where they are by being better than nine out of ten others, have the bucks to buy what they need to do a job, and have been around cameras long enough to understand stuff, and are probably better photographers than nine out of ten. bill Posted May 12, 2008 Share #17 Posted May 12, 2008 Pitt and his M's raise its ugly face every couple of years. Trouble with guys like Pitt and who we like to think are drongos, theyve got to where they are by being better than nine out of ten others, have the bucks to buy what they need to do a job, and have been around cameras long enough to understand stuff, and are probably better photographers than nine out of ten. Need one mention Seal? He's an enthusiastic M8 user and seems to be a genuinely nice bloke. He is certainly passionate about his photography, and more than knows which end is which. As Rob says, just because they are famous doesn't make them daft. I met Auguste Darnell yesterday (Kid Creole), together with one of his coconuts. We flew down from Glasgow on the same plane, and ended up strap-hanging our way around Heathrow on a bus to arrivals. Really nice bloke, no airs and graces, chatty and amiable. All too often we form opinions of actors and performers based on seeing a fraction of their lives, during which, for the most part, they are pretending to be someone else. "Go figure", as our colonial cousins would say. Regards, Bill Regards, Bill
