I've misplaced my MATE instructions. They say something about oiling the mechanism, when, how much and what kind of oil to use.

Can anyone post the instructions for the Tri-Elmar-M f/4 28-35-50?

Thanks.

I had - when I still had the lens - good results with the oil for my turbines. Very tenacious and cleans as well. Ask your dentist for a drop.

Howard,

On page 16 in my Tri-Elmar v1 booklet under "Tips for lens care":

"In order to ensure smooth lens changes, the bayonet has been coated with a thin layer if grease in the factory. Normally, this lubricating film will remain on the lens for years, even if the lens is wiped from time to time. In the event that a grease solvent is used when cleaning, a fresh layer of grease should be applied. To do this, apply a small of vasseline to the bayonet with your finger and spread it with a clean cloth. Attention: Do not apply too much vaseline to the bayonet."

Note the following from page 11: "When the lens has not been used for longer periods of time a definite resistance might be felt when rotating the focusing ring. This only occurs at the first turn however and does not signify a defect of the lens."

I remember when first getting mine (old new stock) I thouht there was something wrong with it as the focusing was increadibly stiff. Reading the above passage calmed me down.
