  1. This happened to my camera a few days ago- picking up the film today to see what happened...
  2. Thank you for the advice- i'll look into doing something like that then...It will make it a lot easier if I don't have to worry about pulling fresh air into the room.
  3. Hello everyone, So I am starting to think about how to set up my darkroom and the issue of ventilation came up. I am renting so I can't put any holes in the wall or install any permanent fans, but I could use a window- so I was looking on B&H at their darkroom fan options and was also reading previous threads in different forums and people are also saying that you not only need to vent the air in the room out, but pull fresh air in? So how would I go about doing that, if it's necessary? Leaving the door open will not be an option and it is a relatively small room. Could I buy two of these fans, put them one on top of the other but one of them reversed and run dryer tubing from it to the other side of the room so it is pushing fresh air in to one side of the room and while the other fan is sucking air out the window? If I did this, I would have to put in a small space heater during the winter..it would get cold.. That is the only option that I can really think of..what do you guys do for this? Thanks for any advice
  4. Yeah I found that forum and figured where it was a large format enlarger they would have some good insight- ha and it's back and forth of course
  5. I haven't, it's an interesting topic though, how these "high performance" lenses work on film.
  6. Ha Yeah it looks huge!! I thought the Dursts were really high quality?
  7. Hello, So I'm going to go look at a Durst, no luck with the Leitz so I am checking out some other manufacturers... anyways people really seem to be complaining about finding replacement bulbs for the Durst enlargers..B&H sells a 150w bulb with the same fitting as the original Durst bulb, though it is a different shape I think, does anyone have any experience with this enlarger? Here is a link to the bulb i'm referring to: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/74801-REG/Wiko_PH212_Lamp_150.html I just don't want to buy an enlarger and not be able to find a light for it..at least I don't want to break the bank getting one. Anyone know if this light would work? Sorry to start a new thread, but where I figured this targeted Durst enlargers only it might catch someones eye that owns one.
  8. Yeah that would be awesome- post some examples here if you can i'd be really interested to see
  9. haha I know...but I'm in too deep, I can't give up on it after all that reading!
  10. I think Sharon might have been right with the iSRD setting messing up my pre-scan window..however, my first issue, no idea what was causing that. So to reset everything, when I opened up Silverfast I clicked the Silverfast settings icon instead of the start Silverfast icon, then there is a button in there that says "reset all settings" and underneath that button is a setting that says "reset scanner settings", so I clicked the reset scanner settings box to check it off, then clicked the reset Silverfast settings button and that seemed to fix it...but I have had so many little issues like this with Silverfast- other more minor ones, like certain features not working, that now are working since I have reset everything...so it is definitely worth a try if something isn't working right...I would use a different software but I just finished reading that 350 page book that they sell on their website that talks about everything in the program, haha so I don't want to give up on it after investing all that time reading
  11. Awesome- I just tried to message you but is says that you cannot receive any new messages...maybe your inbox is full? If it isn't full and it's just not working, message me your email and I can email you directly.
  12. Thank you for all of the information everyone- it has been very helpful. Thank's for explaining the differences between the enlargers m.hilo-very helpful too. I wrote to the seller explaining some of the things that I learned here and did my best to make an inoffensive offer, I hope, at 50-100. Even if it is going to be difficult to focus the enlarger as m.hilo pointed out, I figure it can still be a cheap way to get into making my own prints and give me some experience using a Leitz, that is, if my offer is even considered.. On another note, Michael Hiles, I just noticed that you are located in Montreal, so am I- it would be great to meet up sometime, maybe you could show me how to make a nice print. I am attending a workshop put on by McGill in a few days about darkroom printing and just picked up some Ansel Adams books too- ha and further down the rabbit hole of darkroom printing I go.
  13. Can you guys help me out with what would be a good price on a Valoy I? It comes with a Leitz Elmar 50mm f 3.5...the person is selling it for an older family member. They are asking 350.00 or best offer...I don't imagine 350 is a great price, so Im going to negotiate that so I don't get taken, but I also want to be fair, so can you guys give me a good idea of where I should aim as far as price?...the unit is in good shape, glass is clean on condenser, the wiring works, though it looks a little wonky so I would probably have it redone to be safe...
  14. resolved- had to reset scanner settings too- didn't know that was possible
