vpcancel Posted August 1, 2015 Share #1  Posted August 1, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just got the 246 and have started taking pics. Doing adjustments in Adobe bridge and noticed these vertical lines in my images. Has anyone seen this before? I never have. Image on left is the image and the right is an enlargement. You can see the vertical lines. Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! vpcancel Posted August 1, 2015 Author Share #2 Â Posted August 1, 2015 or could it be the SD card?
tobey bilek Posted August 1, 2015 Share #3 Â Posted August 1, 2015 Cosmic ray damage? Â If worse at hi iso setting, Â that is probably it. Â When is Leica going to fix this ??
pico Posted August 1, 2015 Share #4 Â Posted August 1, 2015 Cosmic ray damage? If worse at hi iso setting, that is probably it. Â When is Leica going to fix this ?? Leica will fix cosmic ray damage just as soon as they can rewrite the laws of nature.
jaapv Posted August 1, 2015 Share #5 Â Posted August 1, 2015 No, they are going to bring out a custom bag made of 6 m concrete.
Chuck Albertson Posted August 2, 2015 Share #6  Posted August 2, 2015 It gets worse: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/science/science-news/11775911/Long-haul-air-passengers-at-risk-from-cosmic-rays-government-fears.html  Pity, as I always like the northern route during a solar storm - the aurora looks like a giant green swirl off to the left.  The only protection from cosmic rays Kodak found adequate for its high-speed B&W film (TMZ) was to bury the stock in a deep salt mine while it aged. jsjxyz Posted August 2, 2015 Share #7 Â Posted August 2, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) It's sd card incompatibility. Try different card. An example, I got severe vertical banding with Toshiba Flash air with my MM1 but not with M240. Although the start up time is 6.5 seconds in M240
faranstudio Posted August 12, 2015 Share #8 Â Posted August 12, 2015 I had the exact same problem with my M246 and got it replaced. The new one doesn't have that issue. Work with your dealer on the issue, for sure they will take care of it since Leica is aware of that problem.
MOZ Posted August 12, 2015 Share #9 Â Posted August 12, 2015 Just jumped from the MM1 that had the sensor corrosion issue... to the 246. That doesn't sound good to me ! :-( Hope it will stay as a minor "youth trouble"...
jaapv Posted August 12, 2015 Share #10 Â Posted August 12, 2015 Neutron damage to a sensor can happen at any time, any sensor, any brand.
edmond_terakopian Posted August 13, 2015 Share #11  Posted August 13, 2015 It's a dead pixel that causes the line. Shoot some tests at the same ISO as that shot. Leica can remap the sensor so it doesn't happen or try to get a replacement from your dealer.
Bill W Posted August 13, 2015 Share #12 Â Posted August 13, 2015 I really had to look hard to find where your issue was. I will certainly look at some of my shots and hopefully I do not have an issue. It does not seem to be a big issue reported so far.
solochrom Posted September 2, 2015 Share #13 Â Posted September 2, 2015 Does it occur every time at the same place ?
henke Posted February 29, 2016 Share #14 Â Posted February 29, 2016 I have a very similar issue on my M246. A thin black line, always in the same spot, vertically from top to bottom about 1/4th in from the left. The line is white sometimes when image is underexposed. Happens at all ISO's. @vpcancel: any update on what caused the issue? Â Â A couple of full size JPG's:Â https://www.dropbox.com/s/n9ie3z75vtr6ipk/m246_issue.zip?dl=
Belle123 Posted February 29, 2016 Share #15 Â Posted February 29, 2016 Have yet to see that on mine. Â I would ask for a replacement.
algrove Posted February 29, 2016 Share #16 Â Posted February 29, 2016 I just had mine at Leica CS Â and this issue was not mentioned.
henke Posted April 7, 2016 Share #17 Â Posted April 7, 2016 Just a quick update. Sent the camera off to Germany and had it fixed by Leica free of charge (including a complimentary CLA). Took about a month, which is better than expected. No comment from them as to what caused it, but I'm happy as it seems fine now.
