In the Middle East region, taking pictures of strangers can't be easier. They just love to be photographed and you would almost never get a NO to a picture request from anyone. However, When it comes to Syrian refugees, the situation becomes completely different.

Those unfortunate human beings are so traumatised they fear everything and anything coming toward them, specially the media. For security reasons and fear to be pinpointed many of them would say NO to any photographic approach. When on assignment, I try to avoid taking any clear picture of anyone without his approval.

During my last assignment, I had a striking reaction from 2 brothers standing in a long line waiting for their turn to get free blankets from an NGO society. When I asked to take a picture of them, one turned toward my camera and paused, the other turned his back to my camera and objected.
